The Nigerian Navy has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.

The application window will open on October 2 and close on October 31, 2026, with eligible applicants required to complete the process online through the Navy’s official recruitment portal. The announcement was made by the Navy on Monday.

The recruitment is open to Nigerian citizens by birth who possess a National Identification Number and meet the prescribed educational, age, physical and medical requirements.

Applicants are required to be medically, physically and psychologically fit, while candidates must have no previous criminal conviction.

The Navy also stipulated a minimum height of 1.69 metres for male applicants and 1.65 metres for female applicants.

For candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, the guideline requires applicants to be between 18 and 22 years as of December 31, 2026, with at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.

Different age and qualification requirements apply to candidates seeking entry through categories requiring OND, NCE, medical qualifications, trades and sports-related skills.

The Navy said successful applicants would be required to print their acknowledgement, parent or guardian consent, Local Government attestation and guarantor’s certification forms after completing their online registration.

It added that details of the recruitment examination, including the date and venues, would be communicated to applicants at a later date.

The Navy warned prospective applicants that the recruitment process is completely free and advised them not to pay anyone claiming to have the ability to influence their selection.

It also cautioned that only one application would be accepted from each candidate, adding that multiple applications would result in disqualification.

Applicants must also be able to communicate in basic English, as failure to meet the requirement could lead to disqualification at any stage of the recruitment process.

The Navy urged interested Nigerians to consult the official recruitment portal for the complete guidelines when registration opens on October 2.

NPF Says Viral September 18 Training Letter is Fake

    Precious Nwonu, Enugu

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has completely dismissed a fraudulent social media advertisement instructing prospective Police Constable recruits to report to training camps on September 18, 2026.

In a formal disclaimer posted to its official X handle on Wednesday, the police high command declared that the viral notification did not originate from its administrative departments and warned all applicants to ignore it entirely.

“The Nigeria Police Force has observed a publication circulating on social media purportedly emanating from the Force, directing prospective Police Constable recruits to report for training on 18th September 2026,” the police statement revealed. “The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state that the said publication is not an official communication of the Force and should be disregarded.”

The forged circular, heavily backdated to September 1, 2026, was systematically designed to mimic legitimate police stationery. It falsely instructed prospective trainees to bring specific personal belongings, including white canvas shoes and bedding, to various state commands across the country. Online images of the counterfeit document have since been marked with a bold “FAKE” stamp by the Force.

To prevent candidates from falling victim to scams, the police management provided clear directions on how authentic updates would be delivered.

“All prospective trainees are advised to rely solely on information communicated through their respective recruitment portals and the official communication channels of the Nigeria Police Force for verified and authentic updates regarding the recruitment and training exercise,” the NPF added.

Additionally, the law enforcement agency pleaded with citizens to stop sharing unverified, deceptive posts that could cause mass panic, confusion, or exploit hopeful recruits.

This security alert coincides with an active, large-scale federal initiative to inject 50,000 newly recruited Police Constables into the NPF. Ordered by President Bola Tinubu in late 2025, the recruitment push aims to tackle the nation’s security challenges and fix severe manpower shortages.

The Nigerian Army has issued a strong warning to citizens regarding a fraudulent recruitment advertisement currently spreading across various social media platforms. The deceptive publication falsely claims that the online application portal for the 92 Regular Recruitment Intake has officially opened.

In an official statement released on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Captain AU Hammanga, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Directorate of Recruitment, explicitly debunked the viral post. The military authorities urged the public to completely disregard the false announcement.

“The publication is false and should be disregarded in its entirety,” the Army stated.

Officials emphasized that the military follows a strict, structured protocol when launching enlistment exercises. They advised hopeful candidates to depend solely on verified, official communication channels to get accurate updates and avoid misinformation.

“The Nigerian Army maintains a clear and official procedure for announcing recruitment exercises and related activities and will duly inform the public through its official channels once the portal for 92 Regular Recruitment Intake is formally opened,” the statement said.

This urgent public notice arrives amidst growing fears that sophisticated syndicates and fraudsters are using the fake job advertisement to scam vulnerable job seekers, potentially swindling unsuspecting applicants out of their hard-earned money.

Reassuring the nation, the military command reiterated that its enlistment frameworks are built on integrity, openness, and merit.

“The Nigerian Army remains committed to transparency and professionalism in all recruitment processes,” it stated.

Furthermore, the Army strongly cautioned the public against falling prey to these criminal recruitment syndicates. Prospective applicants were strictly advised to cross-check and verify the validity of any military job information through official army outlets before attempting to submit personal documents or making any financial payments.

The Nigerian Army implored everyone to entirely ignore the viral social media post until a legitimate, official declaration is formally broadcasted concerning the start of the 92 Regular Recruitment Intake.
