The President of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku has appealed to all stakeholders for a joint action to tackle the menace of child and human trafficking in the country.

Dr. Neliaku made the call on Monday in Abuja at the public presentation of the book, “Vicious Red Circle”, written by Alex Oriaku, a diplomat.

The NIPR boss, who was the Book Reviewer said the book challenges every citizen; including policymakers and faith leaders to join forces towards dismantling the “system of silence” that allows human trafficking and other social vices to persist in the society.

“As the author rightly said, if you see evil and keep quiet, you have already signed a lease for that evil to thrive”, he stated.

He described the book as a model of socially responsible literature, a fiction in service of truth and an art in service of humanity, urging every Nigerian to take on the campaign against trafficking at all times to reduce the scourge.

Dr. Neliaku reiterated the readiness of NIPR to continue to champion a narrative that represents the country’s true image and identity.

The Labour Party governorship candidate in Anambra State, Dr. George Moghalu, on Tuesday led his campaign train to Omor, Anaku, Umumbo, and Umuolum in Ayamelum Local Government Area, where he was received with overwhelming joy and solidarity from traditional rulers, community leaders, farmers, youths, and women.

The visit, part of his ongoing grassroots engagement, underscored his firm belief that Ayamelum remains the heartbeat of Anambra’s agricultural strength and the foundation upon which the state’s food security can be rebuilt.

Addressing the jubilant crowd, Dr. Moghalu lamented that despite Ayamelum’s fertile lands and the blessing of the Omambala River, the area has suffered neglect due to poor road infrastructure, flooding, and lack of processing facilities. He decried the deplorable condition of the Otuocha–Anaku–Adani road, which has crippled farmers’ access to markets and hindered economic growth. He assured that his administration, if elected, will implement a comprehensive Agricultural and Rural Renewal Plan that will focus on rural road rehabilitation, modern irrigation systems, flood control, establishment of agro-processing and storage centers, and revitalization of cooperative societies to empower farmers and create wealth.

Dr. Moghalu, while addressing the gathering, commended the efforts of the present administration but noted that their best is not enough, stressing that “you cannot give what you do not have.”

He cited the example of the General Hospital in Anaku, originally built by former Governor Peter Obi, which was recently repainted and renamed Solution General Hospital. According to him, the government claimed to have conducted several surgeries and recruited new staff, but credible reports from residents and health workers indicate that no such medical activities actually took place, describing it as mere cosmetic renovation without substance.

He further pledged to make healthcare and social welfare a top priority, announcing that his government will introduce free medical care for the elderly aged 65 years and above, as well as a monthly allowance for citizens aged 70 years and above to ensure dignity in their later years. He also reaffirmed his commitment to free and compulsory education at both basic and secondary levels, stressing that no child in Anambra should be denied access to quality education because of financial hardship. Reiterating his vision for a new Anambra, Dr. Moghalu declared that his mission is to restore the pride of the state through inclusive governance, economic revival, and social justice.

“Anambra must feed itself again. Our farmers must be supported, our roads must be rebuilt, and our elders must be cared for,” he said.

The people of Ayamelum responded with renewed faith in his leadership, describing him as the man with the heart, capacity, and integrity to deliver a better Anambra for all.

MOGHALU ADDRESSES LAITY OF ST. MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS ANGLICAN CHURCH, NKPOR

On Monday, the Labour Party governorship candidate in Anambra State, Dr. George Moghalu, honoured an invitation to address the laity of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Nkpor, where he outlined his vision for a peaceful, secure, and progressive Anambra. He described the engagement as a sacred privilege, acknowledging the Church as a moral compass whose prayers, discipline, and advocacy for justice remain essential in shaping a society built on truth and accountability.

In his address, Dr. Moghalu expressed deep gratitude to the Vicar and the laity for their warm reception and unwavering dedication to both spiritual growth and community service. He praised the Anglican Church for its enduring influence in promoting education, peace, and social order, emphasizing that governance devoid of moral direction easily loses its essence. He reaffirmed his belief that a partnership between government and the Church is vital in restoring ethical leadership and public trust.

Dr. Moghalu assured the congregation that his administration, if entrusted with power, will decisively confront the menace of insecurity that has disrupted lives and economic activities in parts of the state. He promised to strengthen community-based security structures, deploy modern intelligence tools, and empower the youth through job creation and skills acquisition.

According to him, “lasting peace cannot be achieved with guns alone, but by giving our young people hope and meaningful opportunities.”

He thanked the Vicar and members of the laity for their hospitality, prayers, and words of encouragement, pledging to remain guided by godly principles in his pursuit of a better Anambra. Dr. Moghalu concluded with a call for unity of purpose among Ndi Anambra, stressing that with faith, discipline, and collective effort, a new Anambra founded on peace, equity, and progress will surely emerge.

The 5th Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture and Awards is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Nigerian National Merit Award House (Merit House), Maitama, Abuja, from 10:30a.m.

Organized by Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, Frontier Discourse was launched in 2021 as a platform to bridge the communication gap between African leaders and citizens. The initiative aims to foster public-private sector dialogue, review pressing policy issues, and celebrate individuals who have made impactful contributions to Africa’s development.

According to a statement issued by the Head of Southern Bureau of the magazine, Doris Ewoh, the event is expected to convene prominent figures from the government, civil society, private sector, and academia to engage in high-level discussions on national development and governance.

Named resource persons include the senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, who will chair the lecture, and the President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, who will serve as Co-chairman.

According to the organizers, this year’s edition will feature keynote lectures, panel discussions, and special segments.

Keynote speakers are Prof. Udenta O. Udenta, Founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), and Dr. Ahmad Sajoh, former Adamawa State Commissioner for Information and Executive Director of the FutureNow Initiative.

Renowned political activist, Aisha Yesufu; Journalist, Laolu Akande; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Protocol, Adeola Oshodi; fiery Catholic priest and social commentator, Rev. Ewoh revealed this year’s topic as “Politics of Convergence & Collisions: Navigating Power Struggle in Shaping Democracy.”

On the idea behind the topic, she emphasized that in 2013, the All Progressives Congress was born, chanting the idea of “Change” to oust the then-ruling party from power and take over.

“Fast forward to 2025, dissatisfied with the ruling All Progressives Congress, some politicians are beginning to converge and collide, replaying the cards of 2013 under the aegis of the African Democratic Congress.

“Our topic hopes to discuss this politics of convergence and collisions. We want to investigate the evolving journey of shaping Nigeria’s democracy through alternatives. Drawing from and referencing similar historical developments, our topic hopes to carefully connect the dots, weaving a web that will lead to where Nigeria presently is. It will question the sincerity of the promised utopia.”

The event will be anchored by broadcaster Ruth Obozeghie and live-streamed across social media platforms. Partners include Human Development Center, Horizontal City Property Developers, LEAD Network Africa, One Stewart Ventures, AnchorNews Media, and Otu Oka Iwu.

Part of the event will be the presentation of awards to eminent Africans spread across different sectors and categories. Also, music sensation and climate change advocate, Une 50, will thrill the audience to his songs.

Since its inception, Frontier Discourse has played a vital role in fostering informed dialogue on national and continental challenges. It has hosted over 4,000 Africans, both physically and virtually.

…Says insecurity, neglect and poor leadership holding the state hostage

The Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Anambra State, Dr. George Moghalu, has urged the clergy and laity of the Church to stand as partners in the urgent mission to rebuild Anambra and restore her lost glory.

He made the appeal during an interaction with the Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Awka, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Amaenyi, where he described the Church as a vital partner in shaping moral leadership and inspiring people-driven governance.

Dr. Moghalu lamented that Anambra, once a beacon of enterprise and education, has drifted into decline due to insecurity and lack of visionary governance.

“Our state has not attracted any foreign investment because no investor will put money in an unsafe environment,” he said.

“The educational system has collapsed, agriculture has been abandoned, and this government has not invested a single naira in that critical sector. Anambra deserves better; our people deserve leadership that truly serves.”

Drawing a contrast with developments in neighbouring Abia State, Moghalu praised Governor Alex Otti for his bold reforms and people-oriented leadership.

“In just two years, Alex Otti has shown what vision and integrity can achieve through massive infrastructural renewal, fiscal discipline, and restored public confidence. That is the kind of leadership Anambra needs. Sadly, our own governor prefers to impress with grammar instead of impact,” he stated.

Reaffirming his faith and humility, the Labour Party flag bearer declared, “I come before you believing that power belongs to God and He gives it to whomever He wishes. I plead for your prayers, your faith, and your partnership.

“Pray for me, speak for me, and defend me. Together, with God on our side, we will build a new Anambra founded on justice, productivity, and hope. This state has everything it takes to prosper; all we need is the right leadership to unlock its greatness.”

Police Operatives serving in the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad of the Enugu State Command, on 19th October 2025 at about 11:30 p.m., rescued a male kidnapped victim at the Ozalla/Umueze axis of Nkanu West LGA.

The operatives also recovered the victim’s Lexus 350 car and one locally fabricated Beretta-like pistol loaded with three live ammunition, abandoned by the fleeing kidnapping suspects.

The rescue and recoveries followed the operatives’ swift response to a distress call reporting the abduction of the victim within the Awkunanaw area of Enugu. The team pursued the suspects to the mentioned location, where they escaped, abandoning the victim and the recovered exhibits. Investigations and a manhunt for the fleeing suspects are ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, commended the operatives for their prompt and professional response.

He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering resolve to sustain the fight against unrepentant criminals in the State, while urging residents to remain law-abiding and continue to assist the Police with credible information.

President Bola Tinubu has made changes in the hierarchy of the Service Chiefs in furtherance of the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria to strengthen the national security architecture.

The President appointed General Olufemi Oluyede to replace General Christopher Musa as the new Chief of Defence Staff. The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu. Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke is Chief of Air Staff while Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff.

Chief of Defence Intelligence Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye retains his position.

The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed most profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and the other Service Chiefs for their patriotic service, and dedicated leadership.

He charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them to further enhance the professionalism, vigilance and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

All appointments take immediate effect.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as Chairman of a high-powered presidential committee tasked with revamping training institutions for security agencies.

The announcement came during the 152nd meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) held on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The session, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima and attended by President Tinubu, also marked a major milestone in Mbah’s growing visibility at the federal level.

In a statement posted on his social media handles, Shettima revealed that the committee has just one month to submit its recommendations to the presidency.

He wrote:
“Today, I chaired the 152nd meeting of the National Economic Council held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The meeting was graced by my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who presented a proposal to NEC on the revamp of training institutions for security agencies in the country.

“Following the President’s proposal, NEC constituted a committee chaired by the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to oversee the process of overhauling training institutions for security agencies across the country.

“The committee has a one-month period to produce a blueprint for the renovation of training institutions for the Nigeria Police Force and sister agencies nationwide.”

The appointment, insiders say, signals the President’s confidence in Mbah’s reform credentials. It also coincides with the governor’s first NEC appearance since joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Observers see the choice as recognition of Mbah’s record in turning around dormant state assets — including the Hotel Presidential, the Enugu International Conference Center, and the Niger Gas Plant.

Security analysts have welcomed the move as a step toward modernizing Nigeria’s security training infrastructure, with Mbah expected to produce what could become the blueprint for institutional reform across the country’s policing and defense systems.

Former Inspector-General of Police, Baba Usman, will serve as secretary, while Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Kefas Agbu (Taraba), Umoh Eno (Akwa Ibom), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa) will serve as members.

His leadership is expected to translate the federal government’s vision into actionable reforms that will reverse years of decay in police and paramilitary training institutions.

A Magistrate’s Court in Kuje, Abuja, on Friday granted bail to publisher and activist Omoyele Sowore; Aloy Ejimakor, a member of the legal team representing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu; the IPOB leader’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu; and ten others, in the sum of ₦500,000, with two sureties in like sum.

All thirteen defendants were arrested and arraigned before the court for inciting public disturbance and breach of peace in connection with the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest held on Monday, October 20, in Abuja.

While Ejimakor, Emmanuel and the other ten defendants were arrested during the protest and later remanded at the Kuje Correctional facility, Sowore was apprehended on October 23 at the premises of the Federal High Court in Abuja after attending Kanu’s terrorism trial to show solidarity.
