The All Progressives Congress (APC) 2026 chairmanship candidate for Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, has continued to receive endorsements and solidarity from community stakeholders and political figures ahead of the forthcoming September 24 local government election.
The latest endorsements came from residents and stakeholders in Akpawfu and Ugbawka, where community engagements were held to discuss the affairs of the people, the development of the area and the candidates seeking to lead the council.
At an event hosted by Like-Mind 4PNM in Akpawfu Community, the group endorsed Ogbuekwe and other APC candidates, with Hon. Edeani Maduabuchi Edeani announcing the endorsement on behalf of Like Minds 4 Peter Mbah.
The group cited Ogbuekwe’s professional background, experience and track record as reasons for backing his chairmanship bid, describing him as a tested candidate with experience spanning engineering, project management, agriculture and public service.
Similarly, Ogbuekwe received the unanimous endorsement of residents and stakeholders of Obinagu, Ugbawka Ward 2, during a town hall meeting attended by community leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders.
The stakeholders, who assessed Ogbuekwe’s background, experience and capacity to lead the council, also pledged to mobilise voters for him and the APC during the election.
Reacting to the endorsements, Ogbuekwe thanked the people of Ugbawka Ward 2 and Akpawfu for their confidence, describing the support as encouraging and humbling.
He said his experience in agriculture, public service and grassroots engagement would be deployed to create practical opportunities and promote development across Nkanu East if elected.
The candidate has also received solidarity from political stakeholders as campaign activities intensify across the local government.
The Enugu State Commissioner for Lands, Barr. Chimaobi Okorie, recently visited the Mmiri Ọma Campaign Council office and presented campaign T-shirts in support of Ogbuekwe’s aspiration.
Receiving the commissioner, Ogbuekwe described the gesture as an expression of encouragement and confidence in his candidacy.
He reiterated that his ambition was centred on Nkanu East and its people, saying leadership at the local government level must translate into visible development and improved welfare.
Ogbuekwe said his proposed leadership model would be anchored on development, accountability, inclusiveness and effective grassroots governance, while building on the development direction of the Enugu State Government.
The Mmiri Ọma Campaign Council has also received campaign materials and solidarity from other political stakeholders.
Hon. Purity Tochukwu, Hon. Kenneth Nnaji and Hon. Reuben Onwuka visited the campaign office and contributed materials to strengthen the council’s mobilisation efforts.
Tochukwu donated campaign T-shirts and caps, Nnaji provided campaign posters, while Onwuka contributed campaign caps and umbrellas.
The campaign council described the contributions as expressions of solidarity and confidence in the vision of the Mmiri Ọma movement, saying they reflected a growing network of individuals supporting its campaign across Nkanu East.
Support has also come from individuals in different communities.
Lolo Ugoeze of Ishienu Amofu, Nkerefi, sent campaign T-shirts and caps to the campaign office, while Mr. Agbowo Fidel contributed campaign stickers in support of the movement.
The campaign council said the contributions demonstrated growing grassroots participation and goodwill towards Ogbuekwe’s campaign.
It added that the support extended beyond campaign materials, describing the various gestures as indications of individuals’ willingness to participate in the political process and support a vision focused on engagement, development and service to the people.
With political activities gathering momentum ahead of the election, the Mmiri Ọma Campaign Council said it would continue to strengthen grassroots engagement, promote unity and mobilise support across Nkanu East.
