2027: Enugu APC unveils consensus NASS candidates

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has announced its consensus candidates for the National Assembly, presenting a lineup of experienced and credible leaders described as a “first-eleven choice,” poised to represent the interests of the people.

The emergence of these candidates followed extensive consultations and stakeholder engagements across the state, reflecting Governor Peter Mbah’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and strategic leadership.

The House of Representatives are as follows:

  • Hon. Chimaobi Atu
  • Hon. Dennis Nnamdi Agbo
  • Hon. Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga
  • Hon. Anayo Onwuegbu
  • Hon. Nnoli Nnaji
  • Hon. Cornell Onwubuya
  • Dr. Festus Uzor
  • Hon. Chidi Mark Obetta

The Senatorial Nominees are as follows:

  • Senator Osita Ngwu
  • Chief Ikeje Asogwa
  • Senator Kelvin Chukwu

The candidates have been described by party stakeholders as “tested and trusted leaders” with verifiable records of service, strong grassroots connections, and the capacity to deliver effective representation at the National Assembly.

According to party leaders, the consensus arrangement underscores a deliberate effort to strengthen internal cohesion and strategically position the APC for electoral success in the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, political observers note that governance developments in Enugu State under the leadership of H.E. Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State continues to shape the broader political environment. Key areas of impact include enhanced security, road infrastructure expansion, healthcare improvements through Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres and an international hospital initiative, transportation reforms—including bus terminals, BRT buses, taxis, and Enugu Airline: Smart schools with technical education reform, Haier Electronic manufacturing,  mechanized agriculture, housing development, and smart city initiatives to mention but a few.

Further developments such as the rehabilitation of the Hotel Presidential and the International Conference Centre are also boosting tourism and economic activity in the state. Observers argue that the administration’s performance within three years has set a pace comparable to longer tenures in similar contexts. Indeed, our tomorrow is here.

The party also noted that large-scale political rallies across the three senatorial zones demonstrate growing political engagement, commendation of the Governor for the transformational projects executed in the state in less than three years. Such rallies will play a significant role in shaping the electoral landscape as the 2027 elections approach.
