Rangers Boss Credits Mbah for Success, Announces Stadium Upgrade

The General Manager of Rangers International FC, Amobi Ezeaku, has praised Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his support to the club, saying it has played a key role in their performance this season.

Ezeaku spoke on Sunday after Rangers’ 2–1 victory over Enyimba FC in an Oriental Derby encounter.

He said renovation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium would begin immediately after the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

According to him, the refurbishment forms part of the state’s preparations for the 23rd edition of the National Sports Festival, tagged Coal City Games 2026.

Ezeaku highlighted the governor’s direct support to the team, particularly in logistics and kit provision.

“As you go home, continue to believe in the vision of His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. He has done a lot for our club,” Ezeaku said.

“He has single-handedly financed the production of jerseys—one for each player in every match we have played this season. His support has been tremendous.”

He added that the planned stadium upgrade would enhance both team performance and fan experience.

“This is just the beginning for our club. Once the league season is over, the renovation of the stadium will begin. Everything is already in place,” he added.

The development comes as Enugu intensifies preparations for the National Sports Festival, with ongoing infrastructure upgrades across the state ahead of the September event.
