Over the years, Rangers International Football Club has remained a formidable force in Nigerian football. Its story began in 1970, in the aftermath of the Nigerian Civil War, a period marked by immense loss of lives and property.
At that defining moment, Rangers was more than just a football club to ndi Igbo; it became a symbol of unity, resilience, and hope. For a people rebuilding their lives with as little as twenty pounds, Rangers stood as an unbreakable cord that bound them together. It was the last hope of the average Igbo man, a child of circumstance, born amidst hardship and struggle, yet growing to bring comfort, pride, and identity to many.
A NEW ADMINISTRATION WITH PASSION
Today, Rangers continues to embody the spirit of excellence and professionalism upon which it was founded. Under the leadership of Amobi Ezeaku (Esq.), the club has witnessed remarkable progress and success.
In 2024, just months after the inauguration of the new administration, Rangers clinched their eighth Nigeria Professional Football League title, ending a nine-year wait for league glory.
In a bold and progressive move, the administration also established the Rangers International Women Football Club, reinforcing the belief that women are a powerful force in football. The team quickly made its mark by securing a place in the Nigeria Women Football League Championship.
Additionally, the launch of the Rangers Academy has created a structured pathway for young talents aged 13 to 17. With over 300 players currently enrolled, the academy stands as a testament to the club’s commitment to the future of football.
