Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has unveiled the 2026 community development programmes of the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), targeting hundreds of communities and thousands of beneficiaries across Enugu State.
The unveiling took place at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, during a stakeholders’ sensitisation event for NG-CARES Operation 2.0.
Mbah, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, commended the leadership of CSDA under Hon. Monday Diamond Ani for driving grassroots interventions.
Onyia said the sensitisation marks a critical step towards the implementation of NG-CARES Operation 2.0, describing it as a strategic partnership between the state government and the World Bank aimed at addressing economic challenges and supporting vulnerable populations.
He added that the programme aligns with the administration’s efforts to strengthen resilience and expand access to essential services across communities.
In his address, the General Manager/CEO of Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Monday Diamond Ani, described the initiative as a platform to deepen collaboration and ensure stakeholders understand how to access development projects under the programme.
He said livelihood grants would target the poorest households through a transparent social register system, with beneficiaries receiving tools such as POS machines, sewing machines, and grinding machines to support small businesses.
Ani added that over 3,000 POS machines would be distributed free of charge to community stakeholders, alongside start-up funds.
“Previously, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has through the CSDA provided potable water to over 140 communities in Enugu State, inclusive of Ultra Modern Toilets to eradicate open defecation. This was witnessed during the just-concluded Statewide CSDA projects inspection tour by the CSDA,” Ani stated.
He further noted that Operation 2.0 would expand existing interventions through labour-intensive public works and enhanced livelihood support across all 17 local government areas.
