Governor Alex Otti has appointed Dr. Emmanuel Meribole as Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG) following the approval of a leave of absence for the incumbent, Professor Kenneth Kalu (FCA).
Meribole, currently the Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects, will assume duties on January 1, 2026.
A transition process will begin on December 15, 2025, during which Kalu and Meribole will work together to ensure continuity in government operations and the smooth execution of the administration’s programmes.
A medical doctor and seasoned technocrat, Meribole retired as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development before joining the Otti administration. He has been central to several developmental projects in the state, a track record the governor says informed his appointment.
Governor Otti also expressed appreciation to Professor Kalu for his service and commitment to the people of Abia State.
