My visit to Owerre-Ezukala Cave and Waterfall in Iyiafor Owerre-Ezukala, Orumba South, Anambra State is one that remains fresh in my mind with lots of nostalgia. The waterfall is one of the biggest in Nigeria.
It is located in a forest area of the village bordered by Imo, Enugu and Abia.
The water falling from the big, tall cliff to splash on you while you are standing under it brings a refreshing excitement, but this is best done after you have toured the caves within and under the cliff, from one cavity tunneling into another to create a thrilling network of three chambers within it. As we move within the cave with a torch or a lantern, it brings a certain enthralling feeling of the old that enchants you so much, you wouldn’t want to leave no more.
Aside the tall waterfall, which is one of the tallest waterfalls in Nigeria, there is another smaller waterfall in the upper chamber of the cliff, and other amazing rocky water canals that can enchant your sight to a fix, as it did to me. You find yourself, like I did, embraced by that soothing warmth of nature. In addition to this, the people living around the village are open and welcoming.
Owerre-Ezukala Cave and Waterfall is a site worth visiting in Orumba South, Anambra State.
