    Adeleke appoints 25 commissioners, 25 special advisers, writes state assembly for confirmation

    The Osun State House of Assembly on Friday indicated that a list of 25 commissioner-nominees has been forwarded to it for screening and confirmation by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

    Announcing the names during the plenary session, Adewale Egbedun, Osun Assembly Speaker, said he received a letter from the governor for the confirmation of the nominees in line with sections 192 (2) and 196(1) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (amended).

    Mr Egbedun said 25 names for the position of commissioners and another request for the appointment of 25 Special Advisers were received from the governor.

    He said the 25 commissioner-nominees include Oladosu Babatunde, Bayo Ogunbamgbe, Sesan Oyedele, Kolapo Alimi, Soji Adeigbe, Moshood Olagunju, George Alabi and Sunday Oroniyi.

    Others are Abiodun Ojo, Bashir Salami, Moruf Ayofe, Sola Ogungbile, Bunmi Jenyo, Ayo Awolowo, Wole Bada, Dipo Eluwole, Rasheed Aderibigbe, Moruf Adeleke, Adeyemo Ademola, Olabiyi Odunlade, Jola Akintola, Mayowa Adejorin, Adenike Adeleke, Tola Fasheru and Gani Ola-Oluwa.

    Mr Egbedun said the nominees are to provide 35 copies of their Curriculum Vitae (CV) to the Clerk of the House between Friday, 7 July and Tuesday, 11 July.

    He thereafter constituted a seven-member ad-hoc committee, to be headed by the Deputy Speaker, Akinyode Oyewusi, to screen the nominees on Wednesday, 12 July, and report back to the House after.

    He added that the nominees must also declare their assets before the Code of Conduct Bureau as required by the Nigerian Constitution.

  • Mass Distribution of Insurance cards in Osun State

    Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Thursday, commenced mass distribution of Osun Health Insurance cards to 69,273 vulnerable citizens in the state.

     

    Osun Health Insurance Agency has successfully enrolled 69,273 vulnerable persons who have been receiving healthcare services in the last two years under the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund.

     

    A statement by Ismail Omipidan, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, said Oyetola while speaking at the flag-off ceremony, held at Ede High School, Ede, explained that the ceremony marked a watershed in the administration’s quest to ensure that no one was left behind in accessing qualitative healthcare.

    “To further strengthen the scheme, we have consistently paid the government’s share of public servants’ health insurance premium which is 3% of workers basic salary and paid the equity grant meant for the provision of treatment and care for the vulnerable/less privileged people in the State free of charge, making us the second in the entire Federation to do so.

    “The programmes have just been completed and the enrolled patients are already receiving treatment for TB across the State, as part of the OHIS Equity Programme for vulnerable persons,” he said.
