    Eleven distinguished Nigerians from all walks of life will be honored today at the maiden edition of the Frontier Discourse Public Lecture Series and Awards, organized by The Pacesetter Frontier Magazine.

    The Public Lecture and Awards which will hold at Bon Hotel Sunshine, Presidential Road, Independence Layout, Enugu, starting from 2.30pm with a Red Carpet, will have a former Minister for Information & Communications, Frank Nweke II, as the Chairman.

    Oseloka H. Obaze, a former UN Diplomat, former Anambra SSG, 2017 Anambra State PDP Guber Flagbearer/Candidate and Anambra State Chairman of the 2019 Atiku-Obi Presidential Campaign Council is the Keynote Speaker and will deliver a lecture on the topic Mental Power at the Mercy of Political Will; Nigerian Politics and Its Conscious Play to Ignorance.

    The Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is the Chief Guest of Honor.

    The Special Guests of Honor at the event are His Excellency, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, PhD, CFR, former Deputy President of the Senate, and His Excellency, Okwesilieze Nwodo, former Governor of Enugu State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.

    Hon. Steve Oruruo, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Enugu State on Information is a Discussant in the panel session that will also have Ekweremadu and Obaze.

    The Royal & Spiritual Fathers of the day are HRM, Igwe Kenneth Orizu III (Obi of Otolo & Igwe of Nnewi) HRH, Igwe Amb. Lawrence Agubuzu, HRH, Eze Barr. Igwesi O. Igwesi & HRH, Igwe Abel Nwobodo and His Grace, Most Revd. Dr. E.O Chukwuma respectively, among other dignitaries.

    Award Recipients are His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo and Professor Bartholomew Nnaji as recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Engr. Paul Basil Iloegbouba and Hon. Chinedu Hillary Onuh as the recipients of the Business Personality Award, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah and Mr. Debo Adedayo (Debo Macaroni) receiving the Youth Icon Award, Prof. Joy Ngozi Ezeilo and Mrs. Aisha Yesufu as recipients of the Woman of the Time Award.

    Others include His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi (Executive Governor of Enugu State) as the recipient of the Governor of the Year in Peace and Welfare Award, Mr. Oseloka Henry Obaze as the Frontier Person and the #EndSars Protest as the recipient of the Most Significant Event of the Year Award.

    Mr. Oseloka H.     He will be joined in a panel session that will follow suit by His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Prof. Ike Ekweremadu, CFR, Fmr. Deputy President of the Senate, who is also one of the Special Guests of Honor and Hon. Steve Oruruo, Special Adviser on Information to the Executive Governor of Enugu State. His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Executive Governor of Enugu State, is billed to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest of Honor and the recipient of the Governor of the Year Award. Former Minister for Information, Frank Nweke II will be the Chairman of the Event. His Excellency Governor Okwesilieze Nwodo, former Governor of Enugu State is also one of the Special Guests of Honor.     Speaking, the Chairman & Publisher, Onochie Jon-Igwesi, while thanking the public for participating in the voting process, noted that the editorial team of the magazine which also doubles as the Host Organizing Committee (HOC) deliberately omitted some categories from the voting process. In his words “2020 is the Year in focus for all categories of awards. The editorial team of the magazine which is also the HOC deliberately omitted some categories from the voting process. For instance, one of such categories is the Most Significant Event of the Year. At the end of a cursory look at all events that happened in the Nigerian space in 2020, though few, since the most of 2020 was spent in the Coronavirus lockdown, the team unanimously agreed that the #EndSars Protest was a landmark and significant event of 2020. This award will be conferred on the Nigerian Youths for pulling a feat never before seen in the history of the country”. Those categories are:

    Former Minister for Power and Chairman, Geometric Power Limited, Professor Barth O. Nnaji, CON, and renowned Girls/Women Rights Activist & Fmr. UN Special Rapporteur on Human Trafficking, Prof. Joy N. Ezeilo, OON, have both described their recognition by The Pacesetter Frontier Magazine as an elixir to continue to work for good governance in the country and render selfless service.

    Speaking separately when they received a delegation from The Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, who came to present letters announcing them as winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award 2020 and Woman of the Time 2020 in Enugu, the duo said they were humbled by the honour.

    Nnaji said he was delighted at his emergence from the voting process that heralded the honor to be bestowed on him as a Lifetime Achiever. He said he was quite surprised when people called him on phone to let him know that he was leading in a voting poll under the Lifetime Achievement Awards category, noting that the surprise was heightened by the fact that he couldn’t receive the letter of nomination sent to his mail by the magazine.

    While glancing through a complimentary copy of the magazine, he appreciated the class the magazine reflected in her publications.

    For Ezeilo, she commended the magazine for continuing to make a stride in time, pointing out that in recent times she had begun turning down awards but was convinced to receive yet another from the magazine because the magazine has continued to set the pace, while maintaining a great poise in Journalism.

    “The Pacesetter Frontier Magazine has continued to set an impressive precedence for which all progressive minded persons ought to associate with. I appreciate awards that are not solicited for and this is one of them”, she said.

    As the buildup to The Pacesetter Frontier Magazine’s Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards dubbed Frontier Discourse continue, key religious, traditional and political leaders have been tipped to attend the academic event.

    The Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who will also be honored as the Governor of the Year (2020) has been tipped to be the Chief Guest of Honor.

    STEVE ORURUO is a Lawyer, Prolific writer, Sports analyst cum Administrator, Commentator and Politician.

    He has been a former Chairman of Enugu State Sports Council, Manager of volunteers for 2009 under 17 FIFA World cup, former trophy-winning Chairman of Enugu Rangers International Football Club, former state Secretary of PDP Enugu Chapter, former member of the Board of Directors Voice of Nigeria(VON) and currently the Special Adviser to Enugu state Governor on Information. He is also the founder of the Steve Oruruo Foundation.

He pointed out that the topic of the Lecture is Mental Power at the Mercy of Political Will; Nigerian Politics and Its Conscious Play to Ignorance, and will have a renowned Fmr. UN Diplomat, Fmr. SSG to the Anambra State Government, the 2017 PDP Guber Flag bearer, Anambra State Chairman of the 2019 Atiku-Obi Presidential Campaign Council & MD/CEO, Selonnes Consult Ltd., Mr. Oseloka Obaze as the Keynote Speaker, with a panel session that will feature very eminent and notable personalities. He noted that the event would have other side attractions and performances, too.

    Mr. Buchi Nnaji who is the Advert Executive said bill boards, radio adverts and social media ads will commence in full soon, as the HOC puts finishing touches to her arrangements.     Mr Oseloka Obaze is the Keynote Speaker in the maiden edition of Frontier Discourse~An Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards of The Pacesetter Frontier Magazine.

    Mr Oseloka Henry OBAZE is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Selonnes Consult Ltd., a policy, governance and management consulting and advisory firm. He assumed office on 9th June 2015. As a governance, policy and management consultant, Obaze has worked and interfaced in an advisory capacity and as a resource person for several governmental and non-governmental bodies and development agencies.

    Most recently, Mr. Obaze served in 2019 as the Anambra State Chairman of the Atiku-Obi Presidential Campaign Council. He contested for the Anambra State governorship in 2017, as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).  Mr. Obaze was the Secretary to the Anambra State Government (Secretary of State) from 29th June 2012 to 8th June 2015.  Prior to assuming that position, he served as a United Nations official (1991-2012) and as a Nigerian Foreign Service Officer (1982-1991).

    A seasoned international civil servant, diplomat and strategic policy advisor, Mr. Obaze has a diverse and substantial background in political processes, and a wealth of diplomatic, mediation, peace and security and conflict resolution experience in national and international affairs, including direct experience in working on countries facing complex challenges in Europe and Africa. From 2007 to 2012, Mr. Obaze was a Senior Political Affairs Officer and Policy Adviser with the United Nations Headquarters in New York and a senior member of the managerial team in the Security Council Branch, which services the UN Security Council. In that capacity, for five years he served as the Secretary of the Security Council Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa, and Trip Coordinator for Security Council missions.

    Mr. Obaze holds a Masters of Arts in Political Science (MA) from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE (1980); and. Bachelors of Science in Political Science (B.S.) from Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, NE. He holds a Certificate in Diplomacy from the Nigerian Foreign Service Academy, Lagos Nigeria (1983); Certificate in Peacekeeping and Preventive Diplomacy from the UNITAR International Peace Academy Course, Burg Schilining, Austria (1996); certificate in Early Warning and Preventive Measures from the UN System Staff College, Turin, Italy (1999); Certificate in Facilitation of Dialogue Process and Mediation Efforts for the Folke Bennedotte Academy, Sandon Sweden, (2007).

    Mr Obaze is the author and co-author of six books: Joe Garba’s Legåcy (Exlibris, 2012); Regarscent Past ~ A Collection of Poems (Ben Bosah Books 2015); Here To Serve (Ben Bosah Books, 2016); and Prime Witness- Change And Policy Challenges In Buhari’s Nigeria (Safari Books, 2017); Waning Strength of Government (Parresia 2020); Africa’s Vision, A Second Anthology (Parresia, 2020) , He is presently co-authoring a book on governance in Nigeria. He writes for Major Nigerian dallies.

    Born on 9th April, 1955, in Ogidi, Nigeria, he is a native of Ochuche Umuodu in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State.  He is married with children. He has travelled to 67 countries.
