    Ahead of the third edition of the Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture and Awards organised by Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, Renowned Cleric and Academic, Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike and Mr. Emeka Mba, CEO of Afia TV & Radio and a former Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission have both been named as Co-Chairmen of the event.

    Msgr. Obiora Ike

    Msgr. Obiora Ike is a Professor of Ethics and Intercultural Studies at the Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu State, Nigeria. He is the Founding Director of the Catholic Institute of Development, Justice, Peace and Caritas (CIDJAP); Chairman of Umuchinemere Pro-credit Microfinance Bank Limited; Chairman of the Enugu State Economic Advisory Committee. He is the immediate past Executive Director of the Geneva-based GlobEthics.net.

    He is a Scholar, Writer, Teacher and Professor with several years of experience and a demonstrated history of working in civil society organisations, non-profit and religious institutions. He has strong professional skills in non-profit organizations, Human Management, Networking, Religious Thought Leadership, Public Speaking, Strategic Planning, and Research.

    Dr. Ike holds degrees in philosophy, theology, economics, journalism, and political science. He gained his doctorate degrees in Bonn, Germany, with a specialisation in Ethics and Christian Social Thought.

    Professor Dr. Ike has held several positions of service in the Church, Society, and State within Africa and Europe.

    Mr. Emeka Mba

    Emeka Mba is a distinguished professional with a notable career in the media industry, currently the CEO of Afia TV and formerly the Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC). With his extensive experience and expertise, Mr. Mba has made significant contributions to the development and growth of the media landscape in Nigeria.

    He has served in various roles across media, technology and entertainment, as well as in regulatory policy management. He is a leading expert and visionary especially on the intersection between government policy and technology in shaping the trajectory and growth of media and entertainment industries.

    Prior to his role at Afia TV, Mr. Mba served as the Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the regulatory framework and policies governing the broadcasting industry. He implemented progressive reforms and initiatives aimed at fostering a competitive and vibrant media sector, promoting local content, and ensuring broadcasting standards of the highest caliber.

    Between 2005 to 2012, Mba also served as Director General, National Film and Video Censors Board. 

    Mr. Emeka Mba’s visionary leadership and commitment to excellence have garnered him recognition both nationally and internationally. He has been a strong advocate for the development of indigenous content and the use of technology to drive innovation in the media industry. His deep understanding of media trends and emerging technologies has allowed him to navigate the ever-changing landscape and position Nigeria’s media sector for future growth and global competitiveness.

    The Third Frontier Discourse Annual Public and Awards will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Hotel Sunshine, Presidential Road, Independence Layout, Enugu, by 11am (Green Carpet).

    The Keynote Speaker, Ike Neliaku, Ph.D, fnipr, ficmc, President and Chairman of Council, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, will speak on “The Post Subsidy Economy – Exploring Bold Initiatives For Economic Recovery In Nigeria”.

    Rt. Hon. Prince Ofor Chukwuegbo (Member, 9th National Assembly) and Dr. Ben Nwoye (Ex Enugu State APC Chairman, Ex Federal Commissioner, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission) will both headline the event as Guests of Honour. 

    While The Rt. Rev. Dennis O. Mark (Methodist Bishop of Awkunanaw Diocese) will be the Spiritual Father of the Day, HRM Igwe Godwin N. Madu, JP (Mbaogu 11 of Mbaogu Kingdom & Ezeala 111 of Achi) and HRH Igwe Barr. R.S.N Ezeh (Chairman, Enugu North Traditional Rulers Council) will be the Royal Fathers of the Day.

    Awards will be presented by Hon. Uchenna Ejim (Executive Chairman, Nkanu West LGA) and a discourse to commemorate the 74th Anniversary of the Coal Miners Massacre will also be held.

    The Host Organizing Committee of the Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards has announced the former president of the Nigerian senate and former APC presidential aspirant, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ken Nnamani, GCON, as the Chief Guest of Honor.

    The announcement was contained in a statement by the Chairman of the committee, Chijioke Ilegbune.

    Sen. Ken Nnamani was elected into the Senate in 2003. He was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Federal Character & Governmental Affairs and member of committees on Privatization, Federal Capital Territory and Appropriation & Finance, and became the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 2005 – 2007.

    Before his foray into politics and public service, he held many commanding positions in the private sector and worked variously as a consultant in Du Pont De Nemours International SA, Geneva and Nova Chemicals International SA, Canada. On 6 May 2008, he founded the Ken Nnamani Centre for Leadership and Development: a foundation that promotes the essential values of ethical leadership and good governance, particularly among Nigerian youth leaders.

    As Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani recorded remarkable legacies and successfully primed the Nigerian Legislature to maturity, independence and development. He presided over the epic Senate debate rejecting the proposed constitutional amendment that would have allowed a sitting president to serve a third term, thus contributing to the consolidation of democracy in Nigeria.

    As Chairman and founder of the Ken Nnamani Centre for Leadership and Development, he promotes the essential values of ethical leadership and good governance, particularly among Nigeria youth leaders.

    In 2007, his Alma mater, the Ohio University Athens, USA conferred on him a Doctor of Laws Degree, Honoris Causa for his civic leadership, vision and passion to ensure good governance for the people of Nigeria, his promotion of transparency in public affairs and adherence to constitutional and legislative due process. The University of Nigeria, Nsukka also rewarded his efforts on October 6, 2007 with another Honorary Doctor of Law Degree, Honoris Causa.

    Also, the New York-based Parliamentarians For Global Action (PGA) bestowed on him the 2007 Defender of Democracy Award, making him the first Nigerian to receive the coveted award. He also received the Role Model Award in the Fight Against Corruption conferred on him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in conjunction with the Code of Conduct Bureau, Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC), supported by other international agencies like the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

    Mentioning the topic of the public lecture as “The Purpose of Power: Ambition for Common Good and Our Culture of Silence and Endurance”, Ilegbune stated that the choice of Nnamani was in line with the topic and his (Nnamani) robust contributions to the advancement of our democracy. He reiterated the magazine’s readiness to host all guests.

    He further noted that the Keynote speaker will be Prof. Okey Ikechukwu, mni, a Member of This Day Newspaper Editorial Board, Professor of Strategic Management and Human Capital Development and Executive Director, Development Specs Academy, while revealing that event would have other features besides the lecture and presentation of awards which will be made public soon.

    Major General Obi Abel Umahi (Rtd), a former General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army and Rt. Hon. U.S.A Igwesi, Member, 5th National Assembly, are the Special Guests of Honor.

    The Host Organising Committee of the Frontier Discourse Public Lecture and Awards has announced Prof. Okey Ikechukwu, mni, as the Keynote Speaker for the second edition of the Lecture.

    This was contained in a message by the Chairman of the Committee, Chijioke Ilegbune.

    Ilegbune stated that Prof. Okey Ikechukwu will speak on the topic, The Purpose of Power: Ambition for Common Good and Our Culture of Silence and Endurance. He also said the Public Lecture and Awards will hold on Saturday, November 12, 2022, by 11am, at De Dome Event Centre, Edward Nnaji Street, New Haven, Enugu.

    Prof. Okey Ikechukwu, mni, is a Professor of Strategic Management and Human Capital Development and a Visiting Professor of Social and Management Sciences. He is a member of This Day Newspaper Editorial Board, with over 3000 published newspaper articles across several media platforms.

    He is also the Executive Director of Development Specs Academy, Training Partner of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Associate Faculty of the Nigerian defense Academy (NDA) and Academic Resource at the Army War College.

    A Chartered and Internationally Certified Management Consultant with reciprocal recognition to practice in over 50 countries, Prof. Ikechukwu is a Fellow of the following Institutes; The International Institute of Management Consultants (FIIMC); Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (FICMC); The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); The Nigerian Army Resource Centre; and an Associate Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA).

    He also has a Ph.D in Philosophy; He obtained a straight Doctoral Degree, after his first degree, without a Masters Degree.

  • JUST IN: Voting ends for nominations in the Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards; over 20,000 votes polled, as about 20 countries participate in process

    The Editorial Board of The Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, organisers of the Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards, has announced an end of the voting process to determine the recipients of the 2022 Awards.

    In a statement made available to news men by the Ag. Editor in Chief of the magazine, Daberechukwu Egbo, she thanked the public for participating in the voting process.

    Stating that about 20 countries of the world participated in the process, she noted that the list of awardees who emerged will be made public in the coming days.

    The statement reads in full: “On September 13, 2022, we issued a statement indicating that the voting process to determine the awardees in the second edition of the Frontier Discourse Public Lecture Series and Awards will commence on September 14 and last for an entire 10 days.

    “We are glad to announce that on Friday, September 23, 2022, voting ended for the Nominees. We appreciate the entire public for participating in the voting process.

    “We recorded a total of 24,931 votes spread across 20 countries of the world: USA, UK, South Africa, Canada, UAE, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Jordan, India, Germany, Ghana, Sweden, Japan, Singapore, Turkey, Hungary, Spain, France and Nigeria, an almost 500% increase from the 5,286 votes gathered in the first edition of the Frontier Discourse Public Lecture Series and Awards.

    “For us, we do not take this participation for granted and we hope to have a better event in the Frontier Discourse 2.0

    “The final list of Awardees that emerged from the voting process will be announced in the coming days, as well as other necessary details about the Public Lecture and Awards.

    “Kindly stay tuned and keep a date with us as we make history in the entire Southern Nigeria and beyond.”
