Ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra, the OBIdient Movement has declared its full support for Dr George Moghalu, endorsing him as the Labour Party’s candidate for the November 8 poll.

The endorsement, made in an official statement from the movement, follows a series of meetings between Moghalu and former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, signalling that Moghalu has the full backing of the movement’s leader.

According to Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the OBIdient Movement, Moghalu is a “relentless warrior for the voiceless masses” and his candidacy aligns with the core values of the movement.

We declare, without reservation or equivocation, our absolute and thunderous endorsement of Dr George Moghalu as the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate for Anambra,” Tanko stated.

Tanko expressed strong confidence that the Labour Party is “coasting to victory with a landslide” in the upcoming polls, citing the state’s large voting population of 2.8 million registered voters.

He further shared a personal observation, stating that he witnessed firsthand Moghalu’s “unapologetic commitment to empathy, accountability, and people-centred governance.”

The coordinator concluded with a rallying cry to all supporters of Mr Peter Obi.

He urged the movement’s members and Labour Party faithful to “March with Mr George Moghalu as one unbreakable army,” adding a firm message to opponents that “the tide of history is turning, and Dr Moghalu will lead us to victory.“

The Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Dr. George Moghalu (Ohamadike Nnewi), on Sunday received a heroic welcome as he met with Nzukora Nnewi in continuation of his community-to-community consultations ahead of the November 8 Governorship Election.

According to a statement by his media office, the leadership and members of Nzukora Nnewi praised him for his courage, consistency, and years of service, while openly acknowledging the many opportunities he created for their people, especially through the federal jobs he facilitated during his tenure as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

They described him as a true son of Nnewi who has never forgotten his roots and whose track record speaks for itself.

In his address, Dr. Moghalu reminded his people of his deliberate efforts to empower Nnewi sons and daughters while at NIWA, stressing that many families in the town still feel the impact of the federal jobs and opportunities he attracted for them.

He assured them that his past performance is a clear guarantee of what he will do as governor.

“Everywhere I go, Nnewi is in my heart and Anambra is my focus. I am here to ask you to place your confidence in me. Give me this opportunity, I will not let you down, I will not fail Nnewi, and I will not disappoint Anambra State,” he said.

He further emphasized that the forthcoming election is a defining moment for both Nnewi and Anambra, reminding them that one of their own is in the race and urging them to stand firmly with him so they can make history together by restoring dignity, security, and development to the state.

The meeting, presided over by Prince Jude Osumuoh, President of Nzukora Nnewi, also had in attendance Hon. Augustine Onyekachukwu Ike, Member representing Nnewi North Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, alongside other stakeholders and community leaders, all of whom affirmed their readiness to mobilize for Moghalu’s victory.

Labour Party Governorship Candidate in the forthcoming November 8 Anambra election, Chief Dr. George Moghalu, on Friday, joined worshippers at the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, where he stated that Anambra State under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has derailed on several fronts and only a God-fearing leader can change the narrative.

According to a statement issued by Moghalu’s media team, speaking shortly during the church service and when he was called up to address the congregation, the former NIWA boss expressed his profound happiness for another opportunity to be in God’s House to worship him despite human frailty.

Dr. Moghalu, who was warmly received by the faithful, noted that a lot had gone wrong in the state which calls for urgent correction; lamenting that Anambra is now rated among the most unsafe states in the country, unlike in the days of past leaders such as H.E. Mr. Peter Obi, when the State stood tall in security, educational competitions, and other positive indices.

Dr. Moghalu decried the bizarre use of pestles (Aka-odo) in revenue collection, describing it as a mockery of governance and a setback to Anambra’s dignity.

Unveiling his vision for the State, the LP guber Candidate assured that his administration would introduce entrepreneurial and skills development curriculum in schools to ensure that students are employable in today’s labour market, while pledging to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive by eliminating excessive and multiple taxation currently stifling Anambra citizens and traders.

Appealing for prayers, Dr. Moghalu noted that power belongs to God, and He gives it to whom He pleases, hence solicited for prayers so that God’s perfect will may be done in his life and in Anambra State.

The Spiritual Director of the Ministry, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (Ebube Muo Nso), fervently prayed for Dr. Moghalu’s success in the upcoming governorship election, as well as God’s guidance and protection upon him.

A former member of the House of Representatives and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), USA Igwesi, has said the reelection of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State is a done deal based on his track record of his administration in the last two years.

He warned that those who failed to perform in office are now weaponizing poverty to buy votes, but assured that Anambra’s future cannot be sold for money.

Moghalu made this known during his community campaign tour of Awkuzu, Nteje, Umueri, and Onitsha.

At Awkuzu, he paid homage to HRH Igwe Nnamenyi III, who prayed for him and wished him well in his ambition, saying let the will of God be done.

Addressing supporters at the Awkuzu Civic Centre and interacting with traders at Nkwo Awkuzu Market, saying a new thing is about to happen in Anambra, Moghalu charged the people to remain steadfast.

“They will come with money, but don’t be deceived. I urge Ndi Anambra not to fall for those who intend to buy their votes and mortgage their future for the next four years. I promise to serve with the fear of God, provide free healthcare, create jobs, and end insecurity. Your votes will not be in vain. Anambra ga adi mma ozo,” he declared.

He also commended Chief Charles Okafor (Wiper), alongside the state and local executives of the Labour Party, stressing that the massive mobilization shows the party is firmly on ground in Anambra North.

Taking a swipe at the Soludo administration, the former NIWA Managing Director accused the government of poor performance and misplaced priorities.

“We all witnessed what happened during the by-election, where the state treasury was recklessly emptied just to buy votes. If they had truly worked, why resort to vote buying? For the past three years, their only achievement is using Aka Ọdọ to collect taxes in this 21st century. If Soludo returns, he won’t use Aka Ọdọ again but a hammer,” Moghalu said.

He further promised to tackle insecurity through CCTV surveillance and better equipped, trained, and documented vigilantes, revive industries, unlock Anambra North’s agricultural potential, and restore the state’s educational excellence that was once the pride of the nation.

At All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha, where he addressed catechists of the Archdiocese, Moghalu sought prayers for his ambition. He reminded them that power ultimately belongs to God and emphasized that the election is an opportunity to liberate the state.

“This is not just about me; it is about the future of our children and the dignity of our people. It is also about strengthening Peter Obi’s political base ahead of 2027. If we resist vote buying and stand together, Anambra will rise again,” he said.

The Labour Party Governorship candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, has declared that the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State will play a decisive role in the 2027 presidential race.

Speaking on Tuesday at Umunze and Nwafija in Orumba South LGA and Agulu in Anaocha LGA as he kick-started his community campaign tour, Moghalu reminded Ndi Anambra that “if we truly desire an Igbo presidency, Anambra must make a bold statement. Our leader, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, needs his own state to stand firm in 2027, and the whole country, especially Obi’s supporters, are watching Ndi Anambra.”

Moghalu lamented that Anambra has no clear blueprint for development and is riddled with insecurity. He promised to end insecurity in Orumba South and across the state if elected. He cried out over the activities of “Aka Odo” revenue collectors and vowed to end the exploitative practice. He insisted that local government elections must be conducted credibly and that the era of governors interfering with LG allocations will end under his watch.

On security, he said: “our vigilantes must be trained, documented, equipped with technology, and properly funded. Why can’t Anambra have a control room system to monitor activities across the state? It is already working in Enugu and it is possible here. Today, the Agunechemba security outfit who are expected to protect us have instead become a source of fear because they are untrained and unregulated.”

He urged the people to remain vigilant and not be deceived by vote-buying, warning that those who failed for four years would return with money to buy votes. “Do not mortgage your future for ten thousand naira. Ask them what they have achieved in the years they stayed in power. Vote for Labour Party, because Peter Obi’s journey to the presidency begins with Anambra Governorship election,”

Moghalu also faulted Governor Soludo for constantly attacking Obi instead of showing his scorecard. “Soludo acts as if he was commissioned to bring down Obi, but whether he likes it or not, Obi has awakened the political consciousness of Ndi Igbo and brought us back to the national political table. Fortune can only be delayed but not denied; all powers belong to God and He gives it to whom He pleases,” Moghalu said.

The people of Umunze, Nwafija, and Agulu communities in return assured him of their total support, promising to stand by him and deliver massively for the Labour Party in the coming election.

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, under the banner of the Eminent leaders and Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP, have warned that the party’s forthcoming national convention in November would be “invalid” if their resolutions are not implemented.

The Nnewi Region Association of Catechists has pledged their total support to the Labour Party Governorship candidate, Dr. George Moghalu (Ohamadike Nnewi), ahead of the November election.

Speaking during their meeting, the convener, Catechist Ruben Agu, said that Moghalu is a leader with the fear of God, proven integrity, and genuine concern for the people. He stressed that Anambra is in dire need of a God-fearing governor who will rise above personal interests and politics of self-glorification to deliver purposeful leadership. Agu assured that the association will not only stand with Moghalu but will also mobilize across parishes and communities to ensure victory at the polls.

He further explained that their support is based on conviction, noting that Dr. Moghalu represents the most credible alternative with the capacity to restore dignity, accountability, and trust in governance. “Our choice is clear—Anambra deserves a trusted hand, and Dr. Moghalu is that hope,” he declared.

In his response, Dr. Moghalu expressed deep appreciation for the endorsement, describing it as both symbolic and strategic in strengthening the moral foundation of his campaign. He reassured the catechists that his government would be inclusive, people-centered, and committed to education, grassroots empowerment, infrastructural renewal, and the restoration of good governance in Anambra State.

Political thought leaders, stakeholders, and the people of Enugu East Senatorial District have endorsed the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as their sole gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections.

The declaration, made at the Enugu East Senatorial Zone town hall meeting on Sunday, 31st August 2025, at the International Conference Center, Enugu, was aimed at reaffirming support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration.

Speaking at the event, the Enugu East Senatorial Zone PDP Chairman, Hon. Nnamdi Nwafor, stated that the district stands in full solidarity with the governor and will follow him wherever he goes. He said, “Going forward, our logo will be: ‘In Peter Mbah we stand.’”

The State Deputy PDP Chairman, Barr. Steve Oruruo, commended Dr. Mbah for bridging the gap between the governed and the government by defeating sectionalism in Enugu through the establishment of smart green schools and Type 2 health centers across the 260 wards of the state. He also affirmed the party’s united support for the governor.

Presenting the governor’s midterm report, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the Enugu State Government, reiterated that Dr. Peter Mbah came prepared and did not enter governance by accident. He pledged his continued support, saying: “There is no vacancy in the Lion Building. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is the best thing this state has had, and we will support and vote for him come 2027.”

Former Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Sunday Onyebuchi, noted that Dr. Peter Mbah’s achievements speak for themselves. He urged everyone to ensure that the governor receives the votes he deserves in the upcoming election, adding that any other contender should be prepared to waste his or her resources.

On behalf of the State Assembly members, Hon. Johnson Ani, Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, expressed full support for Mbah’s administration and called on all to not only support him but also pray for God’s grace as he continues in office beyond 2027.

Reaffirming the position of the zone, Chief Sydney Edeh, ALGON Chairman, speaking on behalf of the local government chairmen under Enugu East Senatorial Zone, assured the people that they would do everything humanly possible to ensure Peter Mbah’s return to office in 2027.

Arinze Ogbodo, speaking for the Presidents-General (PGs), praised Dr. Mbah for his unwavering support of the PGs and assured him of their commitment to his administration come 2027.

At the peak of the event, a motion was moved by Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, former Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, to adopt Peter Mbah as the sole gubernatorial candidate for Enugu East Senatorial Zone. The motion was seconded by a former Enugu APC Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, who also publicly pleaded with the incumbent governor to join his party, the All Progressives Congress.

Also, a communiqué was issued by the members of the Senatorial Zone. Titled “One Good Turn Deserves Another”, it was read by Deacon Okey Ogbodo, the state Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Matters. It reads in part:

“The people of Enugu East, having reflected on the performance of the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, over the past 27 months, express total satisfaction with the government. He has surpassed expectations and stands tall in every sector and by all indicators, as far as sub-national governance in Nigeria is concerned.

“We, the thought leaders, political leaders, professionals, youth leaders, women leaders, traditional rulers, President-Generals of town unions, leaders of market associations, and the good people of Enugu East Senatorial District, endorse, reaffirm, and affirm Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for a second term in office come 2027.

“If he has achieved this much in repositioning Enugu in just two years, it is only left to the imagination what the state will look like after eight years.

“In endorsing him, we want to state that we are blind to party affiliations. Our political party and platform is Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. Take the message to our brothers in Enugu North and West that Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is our party.

“We urge the people of Enugu North and West Senatorial Districts to please return the favour we accorded them in 2007, 2011, 2013, and 2019, as no son or daughter of Enugu East Senatorial District was on the ballot for the governorship during those cycles. We are pleading.”

More notable speakers at the event included Hon. Martins Chukwunwike, Prof. Agu Gab Agu, Hon. Sam Ngene, Princess Obiajulu Ugwu, Hon. Augustine Nnamani, Chief Nana Ogbodo, Dr. G.O.C Ajah, Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji (represented), Rt. Hon. Cornelius Nnaji, among a host of others.

PACESETTER notes that the public appeal by the immediate past state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye, to the incumbent governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, to join the APC, and the declaration by the zone that they are “blind to party affiliations” in their support for the governor’s re-election in 2027, suggests the likelihood of Mbah’s exit from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a move that analysts believe will deal a heavy blow to the PDP, if made.
