Enugu LGA election: Chinyeaka Ohaa’s support group donates N44m to PDP
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi stands out in the galaxy of the 36 state governors in by his unwavering commitment to democratic principles in his governance of Enugu state.
This is manifest in several of his activities especially in the consistency with which he conducts local government elections since his assumption of office in 2015.
PDP party primaries have just been concluded, 17 Council Chairmanship candidates with 260 Councillorship candidates nominated, campaign flagged off for the local government election scheduled for 23/02/22.
To this effect, there has been a flurry of activities by politicians, business moguls, and different interest groups geared towards campaign fund raising for political parties and candidates. While some politicians are donating different sums of money and materials to political parties and candidates of their preference, political support groups and sundry associations are not left out.
Odalije Support Group, the umbrella association propping the gubernatorial ambition of Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, ex-Federal Permanent Secretary and one of the frontline gubernatorial candidates in the 2023 Enugu race donated the sum of forty four Million Naira (#44,000,000) to the PDP as its own contribution to enhance the PDP’s smooth and successful prosecution of its campaigns for the election.
The group said the donation is its own widow’s mite, but it remains, from available record, the highest contribution to state PDP by any group or individual toward funding the Party’s campaign for the local Council elections.
Reliable PDP sources said that the breakdown of the donation is the distribution of the sum of 2 million naira to each of the 17 local government chapters of PDP, totalling 34 million naira, and 10 million naira to the State Executive Council of the PDP.
Recall that Odalije Support Group and its candidate, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, have, at different times in the years past, been consistently profuse in campaign fundraising, financial and moral support to politicians and non-politicians across Enugu State.
Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa has been adjudged to be an outstanding philanthropist who, according to political pundits, “spares no resources nor himself, and deploys the full artillery of his incredibly wide network of contacts to achieve a result. He is endowed with an incredibly large, and most generous, heart that enables him to always know how to offer a hand, never abandoning people at any time, and anticipating, at every turn, the good that needed to be done, for this or that person”
An immensely experienced technocrat, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa is believed to be in the first eleven of those who want to succeed governor Ugwuanyi in 2023.
