Arrest of Godfrey Chikwere; Ohaneze Ebonyi Youth Leader dissociates chapter from “threat”.
Following the reported arrest of one Godfrey Chikwere by the men of Nigeria Police Force in Ebonyi state, upon a petition by the Ebonyi State Honorable Commissioner for Information, Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, the Ebonyi State Youth Leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo, has, in a press release sighted by our correspondent, distanced the Ebonyi Chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing from the planned 10,000 man protest against the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, against the arrest of Chikwere, by the Enugu Youth Leader.
Part of the statement read “The attention of the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing, Ebonyi State Branch has been drawn to a publication endorsed by Mr. Nnamdi Odo, the Leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing, Enugu State branch and made viral on social media in which he threatened to mobilize 10,000 Ohaneze Youths from Enugu State to attack the law abiding citizens of Ebonyi State”
The statement which was signed by Ndubuisi Oka, Leader, Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing, Ebonyi State Branch, called on security agencies to put Odo and his cohorts on their watch list.
As at press time, our correspondent was unable to ascertain whether Mr. Chikwere had been discharged from the hospital, as he was reported to have been hospitalized while in custody.
