The governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, will on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, swear in the newly elected chairmen of the state’s 17 local government areas.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall, Lion Building, Enugu, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The event follows the September 26 Enugu State local government elections in which chairmen and councillors were elected across the state’s 17 local government areas.
Recall that the All Progressives Congress won the entire 17 chairmanship seats and the 260 ward councillorship seats.
On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the state electoral body, Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) presented certificates of return to each of the chairmen-elect.
Sources close to the state government informed PACESETTER that the newly elected chairmen are expected to attend the ceremony with their spouses.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to mark the formal commencement of the tenure of the newly elected council chairmen.
