…Pledges to Build on Nkanu West Scorecard
Stakeholders from Nkanu West’s 14 wards have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of the Executive Chairman, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, following the unveiling of his campaign council and presentation of his administration’s development scorecard ahead of the September 26, 2026, local government election.
The stakeholders made their position known at a meeting held in Nkanu West, where Ogbodo inaugurated his campaign organisation and reviewed key interventions undertaken by his administration across the local government.
The campaign council has Onyeka Onwe as Director-General, Moses Ani Emeka as Deputy Director-General and Chidiebere Ani as Secretary.
The meeting brought together political leaders, stakeholders and representatives from the 14 wards of the local government, with speakers calling for unity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the poll.
Presenting his administration’s scorecard, Ogbodo highlighted interventions in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, agriculture, ICT, sanitation and other areas.
According to the Chairman, his administration saw to the fencing and operationalisation of the 14 Smart Schools, one in each ward. He also listed the supply of 86 computers, installation of ICT centres and 85 interactive boards, as well as the provision of free meals for pupils and students.
In healthcare, Ogbodo said 14 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres were being provided across the local government, with 10 already operational and the remaining four expected to be delivered within two weeks.
He also highlighted the construction of asphalt roads in various communities, including roads leading to the Smart Schools, alongside drainage projects such as the completed project at Ozalla.
Other interventions cited included solar-powered infrastructure, including the solar power point at Nvu Aja; boreholes in several communities; 24 containers of waste bins for improved sanitation; and the distribution of fertilisers and other agricultural inputs to farmers.
The Chairman expressed appreciation to the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for providing him with the platform to serve the people of Nkanu West and seek another term.
Ogbodo also praised Mbah’s administration for its developmental strides across the state, assuring that Nkanu West would reciprocate the Governor’s support and back his continued leadership in 2027.
Hon. Ilo Aniagu, member representing Nkanu West Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, commended Ogbodo for his performance and urged residents to turn out massively on September 26 to support his re-election.
Aniagu also called on stakeholders to mobilise for Governor Mbah ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC candidate for Nkanu West Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnamani, similarly pledged his support for Ogbodo and urged party members to remain united in their efforts to deliver all APC candidates from top to bottom.
The APC State Woman Leader, Esther Edeh, praised Ogbodo’s interventions in Nkanu West and assured him of the support of the people ahead of the election.
Dr. Amaka Ngene, Chairman of the Science, Technical and Vocational School Management Board, also assured the Chairman of the continued support of the people, particularly women across the local government.
At the meeting, stakeholders from the 14 wards endorsed the campaign organisation and pledged to mobilise their respective communities for Ogbodo’s re-election.
They expressed confidence that the same grassroots structure that secured Ogbodo’s victory in his first tenure would again deliver him on September 26.
The meeting subsequently ended with a call for stronger ward-level mobilisation, unity and sustained engagement with the electorate as the local government election approaches.
