The Enugu State Police Command has disrupted an interstate vehicle theft syndicate and recovered two Mack trucks and a Toyota Highlander Jeep stolen in Abia and Lagos states.
The police said operatives attached to the Emene Police Division recovered the two Mack trucks on December 22, 2025, following credible intelligence on truck theft. The trucks—a yellow Mack truck conveying a 40-foot container and a white Mack truck without a registration number—were recovered in Emene, Enugu State.
According to the police, the trucks were stolen in Aba, Abia State, and transported to Enugu to be sold before they were intercepted by operatives.
Two suspects, Okenwa Chinedu, 33, and Adaka Emmanuel, 28, were arrested in connection with the incident. Okenwa allegedly conveyed the stolen trucks from Aba to Enugu, while Adaka was said to be a prospective buyer.
Preliminary investigations showed that Okenwa is a Mack truck mechanic based in Aba, while Adaka is a scrap dealer. The owners of the recovered vehicles have since identified them, as investigations continue to track other members of the syndicate.
In a related operation, operatives of the Uwani Police Division arrested Emmanuel Chukwu on December 17, 2025, while he was attempting to sell a stolen Toyota Highlander Jeep at a car stand in Uwani, Enugu.
The ox-blood-coloured Toyota Highlander, with registration number AGL 929 FX, was reportedly stolen from Isolo, Lagos State. The suspect and the recovered vehicle have been transferred to the police division in Lagos where the theft was initially reported for further investigation.
Commending the operatives, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, praised their professionalism and swift response. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to public safety and urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible infor mation.
