Enugu: PDP LG Chairmanship Candidate, Ukwueze Congratulates Newly Elected Igbo-Eze South LG Excos, National Delegate

The Igbo-Eze South Local Government Chairmanship flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming council election, Barr. Ugo-Fedinand Ukwueze, has congratulated the newly elected executives of the PDP in Igbo-Eze South and the National Delegate of the party from the council area.

It will be recalled that the PDP in Enugu State on Saturday 17th August, 2024, held their Local Government Congress to elect their National Delegates and LG functionaries that will pilot the affairs of the party.

At the Igbo-Eze South Local Government PDP Congress, Chief Hon. Ikeje Asogwa, former Executive Chairman of ESUBEB emerged as the National Delegate of PDP in Igbo-Eze South LGA while Hon. Ejike Amedu, the immediate past Vice Chairman of the LGA, emerged as Chairman of the party in the council area and Engr Dan Ugwu, Jnr emerged as the Vice Chairman.

Hon. Nweke Zebedee emerged as the Secretary while Hon Onah Maria emerged as the Woman Leader of the party.

Hon. Ukwuaba Simon was elected as the Youth Leader while Mr. Chukwuma Kingsley emerged as the party’s Publicity Secretary, as well as other 11 different respective executive positions.

Barr. Ukwueze who described their emergence as the collective wish of the party faithfuls in council area, said that the task before them was to rebuild the party to greater heights.

He said that the first agenda on their table should be setting up a peace and reconciliation mechanism that will look into the grievances that made the PDP lose most of her members to other political parties in the recent past.

Barr. Ukwueze who said, “We disagree to agree, added, “We must embark on soul searching to recover back our members who left the PDP as a result of one differences or the other.

“The Bible made us to understand how much importance a Shepherd places on his sheeps to the extent that he is ready to leave 99 in safe custody to look for one missing sheep.

“We have always been a dominant party in Igbo-Eze South and we must strive to maintain that status by doing things different from our old ways that made us lose our members to other political parties.

“Even in a family, there is bound to be disagreement but what matters is the ability to reconcile the disagreements and set up mechanisms that will address the issues that led to the disagreements”.

He said, “We must look towards doing things in a just and fair manner going forward so as to give every member of the PDP or Political Wards a sense of belonging.

“We as a party need to work fast to start correcting things we are not doing rightly.

“We must endeavour to share political appointments and democratic dividends equitably so that party members and the people of our council area at large won’t feel cheated or ignored.”

The Chairmanship Candidate said that the second task before the party leadership in the local government, was to immediately embark on the mobilization of supports and votes for the success of the party’s candidates in the forthcoming local government election.

Barr. Ukwueze who also assured that his leadership of the local government would be people oriented, solicited for votes from the people of Igbo-Eze South so that he and other candidates of the party will emerge victorious in the forthcoming council election.

The Chairmanship candidate for the PDP maintained that he will never take their votes for granted if elected as the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area adding. “…my leadership will be service and result driven.”

He thanked the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Mbah, for his quality leadership in the state noting, “We are feeling your impact in road infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, boosting of our economy, among other life touching policies.”

Barr. Ukwueze who is the immediate past Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association Nsukka Branch, appealed for supports from the good people of Enugu State towards the leadership of Governor Mbah assuring that before the middle of his first tenure, all the life touching policies and programmes will come to fruition.
