‘I’m Not Done’: Ezeaku Confirms Stay as Rangers General Manager

…Ends Exit Speculation, Commits Future to Rangers

The General Manager of Rangers International FC, Amobi Ezeaku, has confirmed that he will remain at the helm of the Enugu-based club, ending weeks of speculation over his future.

Ezeaku made the announcement in a post on his official Facebook page, exactly 21 days after asking for time to decide whether to continue in the role.

“The journey continues.

“For the badge.

“For the city.

“For everyone who believes.

“Twenty-one days ago, I asked for time.

“Not because I was uncertain… But because decisions that shape the future deserve silence before they deserve words.

“The answer is simple.

“Some battles choose you. Some badges become part of you.

“There is still work to do. There are promises to keep. There is a future worth fighting for.

“So, we go again.

“I’M NOT DONE,” he wrote.

The declaration marks a reversal of uncertainty that followed his end-of-season media briefing, during which he disclosed that he was weighing family considerations, health concerns and attractive international career opportunities before deciding whether to remain with the seven-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions.

At the briefing, Ezeaku had said the decision would be one of the most important of his professional career after nearly three years in charge of Rangers.

“Give me three weeks.

“I can only answer this question in the next three weeks. Right now, I am here. But in the next three weeks, I will give a definitive answer as to my stay in Rangers,” he had said.

The football administrator had revealed the personal sacrifices associated with the job, explaining that his two young sons have spent much of their lives outside Nigeria because of his commitment to the club.

“After two years and ten months, two trophies in three years, and then a family that is suffering my absence, young boys who are growing without their father, I need to have a clear head to decide,” he said.

Ezeaku also disclosed that he had attractive opportunities abroad, including an offer from FIFA for a Senior Legal Counsel (Litigation) position based in Miami, United States.

“Before I came to Rangers, I was supposed to join the FIFA legal department… As I speak to you, FIFA is waiting for me to send a reply to the Senior Legal Counsel position.

“It is enticing,” he had said.

He further revealed that he had received approaches from prominent figures linked to Nigerian football clubs but insisted he would never work for another club in the country.

“Even if you offer me billions, I can’t work for any other club in Nigeria,” he declared.

Ezeaku also spoke about the emotional and health toll of football administration, disclosing that he suffered a major health scare in August 2025 due to the pressures of the job.

“August 12 last year, people were deciding whether to take me to the mortuary. Many of you never knew.

“I didn’t know when I was carried away from my house,” he recalled.

Despite those challenges, he maintained throughout that his affection for Rangers remained unwavering.

“I love Rangers with my life.

“I will do anything humanly possible to make sure that the light of Rangers is never extinguished,” he had said.

Ezeaku’s decision to remain with Rangers is expected to provide continuity for the Flying Antelopes, who have enjoyed renewed stability under his leadership. Since assuming office, he has overseen a resurgence at the club, highlighted by Rangers’ Nigeria Premier Football League title triumph and broader efforts to strengthen the club’s administrative and institutional structure.
