Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has inaugurated chairmen and members of several state boards and agencies, charging them to strengthen institutional leadership and improve service delivery across the state.
The inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia.
The boards inaugurated include the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) Management Board, the Governing Council of the Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotion Office, Abia State Rural Access Roads Agency, Abia State Roads Fund, Abia State Lottery Board, and the Abia State Library Board.
Speaking during the inauguration, Otti said the appointments were aimed at strengthening accountability, efficiency, and policy implementation in state institutions.
He urged board members to avoid rivalry with management teams and instead work collaboratively to achieve the administration’s developmental objectives.
The governor described the appointees as seasoned professionals selected based on merit and assured them of the support needed to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
Otti also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to governance reforms and infrastructure development, saying the government remained determined to sustain its development agenda.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Dr. Ezinne Chinyere Benjamin-Kalu, chairman of the ABSUTH Management Board, thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in them and pledged commitment to accountability and effective oversight.
She said the appointments represented a call to service and responsibility, adding that the board members would work towards improving the performance of the institutions under their supervision.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, commissioners, and other senior government officials.
