Fellow Nigerians,
On this auspicious occasion of our nation’s Independence Anniversary, I join millions of our compatriots across the globe to salute the courage, resilience, and indomitable spirit of the Nigerian people.
Today, we celebrate not just the freedom we won in 1960 but also, the unyielding hope that our tomorrow will be brighter, fairer, better, and more prosperous.
As we mark this day, let us remember that the true strength of a nation lies in equity and justice. These form the foundation of inalienable rights. Nigeria will only fulfil her manifest destiny when every citizen feels equal before the law, and every state and every region receives their fair share balance in the distribution of resources, opportunities, and amenities. No group, no zone, and no state should be left behind. True independence means equity in employment, fairness in representation, and justice in governance.
As a nation that is vastly polarized by bigotry and divisive rhetorics, we must find ways to mend. In this context. I add my voice to the growing call for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, not just as a gesture of reconciliation, but as a bold step towards healing, dialogue, and unity in our country. A nation cannot prosper while parts of its people remain in anguish.
Looking ahead, I pledge that under my stewardship as Governor of Anambra State, we shall pioneer a new era of:
Balanced development and job creation,
Youth empowerment and digital innovation,
Tech-based security architecture to guarantee safety in our communities,
E-Government platforms to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability, and
A strong foundation for self-sufficiency food security, especially in poultry and fish production, among other critical sectors, with a view to boost food security, create jobs and wealth, and improve overall public health and wellbeing.
We will build a new Anambra state that is productive, innovative, examplary, and above all, own comparative advantage in several niche sectors. We must return to the era of setting the pace for what Nigeria can truly become.
Let this 65th Independence Day inspire us to rise above divisions; to demand fairness, and build a Nigeria where justice flows like a mighty river, and progress knows no tribe, no creed, and no boundary. Our nation should live up to its commitment to being a nation where no man is oppressed.
This juncture is, ultimately, a time to recommit ourselves to true nation building. We must relearn how to love our neighbour and our country. The era of seasonal patriotism must be put behind us.
Happy Independence Day to our beloved Nation.
Happy Independence Day to Anambra State.
Together, we shall triumph.
