Enugu Rangers maintained their top position after they defeated Bayelsa United 2-0 on Sunday in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) week 26 fixture played at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
With this win, Rangers moved closer to winning a ninth Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, title.
The Flying Antelopes showed their title credentials with a composed display on the road to maintain their position at the top of the league table.
Rangers set the tone early in the game, taking the lead in the first half through Chidiebere Nwobodo, who found the back of the net with a composed finish to give the visitors control going into the break.
After halftime, Bayelsa United pushed to get back into the game, but Rangers remained disciplined and organized. Their persistence paid off late in the second half when Godwin Obaje sealed the victory with a well-taken goal.
Rivers United outclassed Abia Warriors 3-0 in Port-Harcourt to keep Rangers in sight as the curtains gradually fall on the 2025/2026 NPFL season.
