Ogbonda Expresses Optimism Ahead of Rangers FC Clash with Rivers United

Rangers winger Evans Ogbonda says the team is ready to “bounce back” as they prepare to face league leaders Rivers United on Wednesday, January 14, in Enugu.

Ogbonda described the fixture as a chance for the Flying Antelopes to reset their campaign after a controversial defeat to the Port Harcourt side in December.

He said the setback did not affect the team’s morale.

“I am not happy that we lost the last game against Rivers United, we played well and created a lot of chances. It is heartbreaking that our goal was chalked off for unjustifiable reasons. Nonetheless, we are ready for the next game, we have worked hard in training and we are motivated to go on and win the game, I am very sure that we will bounce back,” he said.

The forward urged Rangers supporters to remain firmly behind the team, noting that expectations are high in the new year.

“To play in Rangers, you must have a winning mentality, it is a new year and our fans are expecting positive results, we will not fail them, all we want is their unwavering support and loyalty. By God’s grace, we will challenge for every trophy this season.”

Ogbonda, who joined Rangers in 2024, has become a key part of the squad with 7 goals in 43 appearances. His pace and creativity have made him one of the side’s most reliable outlets in attack.

Rangers currently sit sixth on the NPFL table and are targeting a strong run as they push for what would be their ninth league title.
