Former APC senatorial candidate Ada Ogbu dumps party

Princess Adaku Ogbu Aguocha, popularly known as Ada Ogbu, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending her 14-year membership of the party in Enugu State.

Ogbu, a former APC senatorial candidate and one of the party’s most prominent figures in the state, announced her resignation in a letter dated December 30, 2025, addressed to the APC caretaker ward chairman of Nara Ward I in Nkanu East local government area.

In her letter, Ogbu said her decision was informed by “evolving realities” and a reassessment of the most effective way to serve her constituents, adding that the move followed consultations with family members and political associates.

A founding-era member of the APC, Ogbu was among the earliest Enugu indigenes to join the party at its inception in Bourdillon Avenue, Lagos, and remained a key voice during periods when the APC struggled for electoral relevance in the South-East.

Ogbu described her years in the APC as formative, thanking party leaders and supporters while stressing that her departure was not driven by personal grievances.

Although she did not disclose her next political destination, the resignation comes amid widening political realignments linked to the emerging opposition coalition around Peter Obi and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
