Court Remands 51-year-old Security Man Arrested Over Murder of Female Cousin

In strict compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, detectives have arraigned and secured the remand of 51-year-old Emeka Emmanuel Nwangwu, a member of a Neighbourhood Security Watch Group, for the alleged murder of his cousin, Loveth Uloma Nwangwu, aged 19.

The arraignment was carried out yesterday, 10th December 2025, after the conclusion of investigations by the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID).

Recall that the suspect was arrested on 1st December 2025 in Nsukka, following an incident in which he violently assaulted the deceased, resulting in injuries that tragically led to her death. Upon his arrest, the Commissioner of Police directed the State CID to conduct a meticulous investigation and ensure that the case was promptly charged to court.

Consequently, the suspect has been arraigned before the Enugu State Magistrate Court on a one-count charge of murder. The Court ordered his remand and directed that the case file be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice, through the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), for review and legal advice.

CP Giwa again expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, urging them to find comfort in the fact that justice is already in motion, as the investigation has been concluded and the suspect has been arraigned and remanded accordingly.
