World Teachers Day: Moghalu Salutes Teachers as Pillars of National Development

…Says Collaboration Key to Transforming Education

As the world marks World Teachers’ Day 2025, the Labour Party Governorship Candidate for Anambra State, Chief Dr. George Moghalu (Ohamadike Nnewi), has paid glowing tribute to teachers across the nation, describing them as the unseen architects of society and the pillars of national development.

He said this year’s theme, “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession,” is both profound and timely, emphasizing that meaningful educational transformation can only be achieved through synergy among teachers, parents, policymakers, and communities.

Dr. Moghalu commended teachers for their resilience and sacrifice in nurturing future leaders despite daunting challenges. He noted that while the world celebrates their commitment today, Nigeria must move beyond symbolic appreciation and work towards building a system that respects teachers, rewards excellence, and prioritizes professional development.

He further stated that his running mate, Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro, a distinguished teacher by profession, represents the values of discipline, mentorship, and service that define the teaching vocation. According to him, having an educator on the Labour Party ticket reinforces his belief in education as the bedrock of societal transformation. He stressed that under his Education Recovery and Development Agenda, his administration will restore dignity to the teaching profession, promote continuous training, and make education free and compulsory for every child in Anambra State.

He further highlighted that collaboration remains the cornerstone of sustainable educational progress, insisting that no education system can rise above the quality and cooperation of its teachers. According to him, education thrives when everyone, including teachers, government, and community, works together to create an environment where knowledge is nurtured, curiosity is encouraged, and innovation is sustained. Moghalu expressed confidence that with the right investment and political will, Anambra can reclaim its rightful place as the intellectual capital of Nigeria, producing the brightest minds that will drive national development and innovation.

While felicitating with teachers on their special day, Dr. Moghalu extended heartfelt appreciation to all educators across Anambra and Nigeria for their steadfast devotion to duty. He described them as the moral compass of society and the true builders of a brighter tomorrow.

“On behalf of my family and campaign team, I celebrate all teachers who continue to shape our future with courage and conviction. You remain the pride of our nation. Happy World Teachers’ Day,” he concluded.
