…Approves provision of scholarship for target 10,000 Enrollees
The Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, Hon. John Ogbodo, has commenced engagement with senior secondary school students in the local government on the gains of participation in the Emerging Technology Skills for Africa Program, ETSAP.
Headlining the engagement, the Secretary of the Local Government, Prince Onochie Jon-Igwesi, and the representative of Enugu State Tech Hub, Kenechukwu Malo, jointly addressing students of the senior secondary schools visited, explained that the initiative was targeted at upskilling young persons in Nkanu West to become players in the orbit of emerging technologies.
They noted that it was in line with the promise of the Dr. Peter Mbah led state government to “position Enugu state as Nigeria’s digital talent landscape and where international communities can poach talents in highly sought after skills”.
The Secretary of the local government further informed students that following the nod of the Finance and General Purpose Committee of the local government, the Executive Chairman approved provision of scholarship for all enrollees, noting that participants will partake in any of their selected courses at no cost to them, while the local government further undertakes the cost of providing internet services and other logistics in the I.T labs of their schools for the 6-month duration of the program.
Handing over application forms to the Principals of the schools visited and listing the courses offered to include Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; CGI Animation; Virtual Reality/Mixed Reality/Augmented Reality; 3D Animation; 2D Animation; Cloud Computing; Cyber Security and Business Intelligence Analysis, Jon-Igwesi stated that other interested applicants “can pick up the form from the office of the Secretary of Local Government, Nkanu West Council Headquarters, Agbani, or enroll via: www.etsapsfrica.com“.
Schools visited were Akpugo High School, Akpugo; Government College, Agbani; Model Comprehensive Secondary School, Agbani; Community Secondary School, Umueze; Community Secondary School, Amodu; Obe High School, Obe; among others.
Emerging Technology Skills for Africa Program is a transformative initiative providing tuition free certificate courses on emerging technologies. It seeks to create a robust framework for delivering tuition-free Tech Professional Certification programs, specifically in the Emerging Technology space. The learning platform will be powered by Skillonline – INTERTEK – CIRPS, three of the foremost partners of this initiative.
Participants will be awarded Globally accredited Diploma certifications from over 170 international universities under the umbrella of Skillonline.
