Barely 24 hours after being sworn in for a second term in office, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has directed all political appointees to immediately hand over their duties .
The directive was contained in an official circular issued on Wednesday, 18th March 2026, by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo .
According to the circular with reference number SSG/PS/1/T2/23, all political appointees are to hand over to Permanent Secretaries or, in their absence, the most senior civil servant in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) .
The handover process must be completed on or before the close of work on Wednesday, 18th March 2026, pending the constitution of a new cabinet .
“I am directed to inform all political appointees to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior Civil Servant in the various MDAs on or before the close of work today, 18th March, 2026, until a new cabinet is constituted,” the circular read .
The circular further directed all first-term cabinet members to meet with Governor Soludo on Monday, 23rd March 2026, at 10:00 a.m. prompt at the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) Chambers .
Recall that Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo was sworn in for a second term on Tuesday, 17th March 2026, at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.
The development signals the formal dissolution of the existing cabinet and marks the beginning of a fresh administrative cycle under Governor Soludo’s second tenure .
