Enugu Smart City Boss Igwesi Registers With APC, Declares Support for Tinubu and Mbah

The Board Chairman of the Enugu Smart City Development Authority, Rt. Hon. Ikemba U.S.A Igwesi, has officially registered with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his ward, declaring full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah’s developmental visions for Nigeria and Enugu State.

Igwesi completed his registration as part of the ongoing APC E-Registration exercise, at his Obuoffia ward in Nkanu West on Thursday, January 15, 2026, describing the move as a reaffirmation of his commitment to “progressive governance, strong belief in the ‘Tomorrow is Here’ philosophy and a structured pathway to sustainable development”.

Speaking after the E-Registration slip was presented to him by the ward chairman, ward party executives, ward lead registration agent, and members of the party in the ward, the former member of the House of Representatives, praised President Tinubu’s policy direction, saying the administration has shown “boldness and economic discipline” in implementing reforms aimed at stabilising the economy.

He applauded Governor Mbah for reshaping Enugu’s infrastructure and investment climate through the Smart City Masterplan, which he said aligns with the APC-led federal government’s national development strategy.

“President Tinubu is taking tough decisions needed to reposition the country, and Governor Mbah is complementing these efforts with strategic reforms in Enugu,” he said.

“My registration today is a demonstration of my conviction that both leaders share a common goal of building a modern, prosperous Nigeria.

“We are not shaky in our decision to follow the excellent leadership of Gov. Peter Mbah because he has proven himself worthy of the confidence we reposed in him in 2023.

“I was one of the very early owners of the ‘Project Peter Mbah’ because when I listened to his programs, I knew that we couldn’t afford not to have him as governor of Enugu State.

“His leadership is accepted across Enugu State, reason the entirety of the Enugu political apparatchik and citizens adopted his decision, and followed him into the APC.

“We are confident that through God’s help, he will be re-elected in 2027 to complete his second term as governor”, the former majority leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly added.

Party officials at the ward described U.S.A Igwesi’s registration as a “major boost” to the APC’s grassroots mobilisation in Nkanu West. They noted that his influence will enhance the party’s structure ahead of future elections.

Igwesi urged residents to participate actively in party activities, stressing that governance works best when citizens take part in political processes rather than staying on the sidelines.

“We all have a responsibility to contribute to nation-building. I encourage our people to register, engage, and support initiatives that improve our communities,” he added.

The event attracted the Secretary of Nkanu West LG, Prince Barr. Onochie Igwesi, who also registered with the party in the Ward; local APC leaders; stakeholders, and youth groups.
