Wike Orders Enforcement After Revoking 1,095 Property Titles in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has begun enforcement actions on 1,095 property titles revoked over non-payment of statutory land charges, the Minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, said on Friday.

According to Olayinka, the affected properties cut across Asokoro, Maitama, Garki and Wuse districts of the Federal Capital City (FCC). He said the minister approved the move following persistent default despite multiple notices issued between May and November 2025 across newspapers, online platforms and television stations.

“The general public particularly holders of property in the FCT are hereby notified that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON has approved commencement of enforcement actions on a total of 1,095 properties in the Federal Capital City (FCC) for defaulting in various payments,” the statement read.

A breakdown shows that 835 titles were revoked for failure to pay ground rent, while 260 others were linked to violation and land use conversion fees.

The FCTA said defaulters ignored repeated reminders to settle outstanding obligations, including ground rent, C-of-O bills, penalty fees and land use conversion charges.

“Despite the several publications/public notices made by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA)… the underlisted property holders have failed to comply,” the statement read, stressing that such defaults violate Section 28(5a–b) of the Land Use Act and breach the terms of their Rights of Occupancy.

Olayinka added that the enforcement followed the expiration of a final 14-day grace period that lapsed on November 25.

He quoted the administration as saying it would now “carry out enforcement actions on the 835 properties for defaulting in payment of Ground Rent and 260 properties for defaulting in payment of Violation Fee and Land Use Conversion Fee.”
