The Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Anambra State, Dr. George Moghalu, on Monday joined other candidates and political party representatives in signing the Anambra State Peace Accord at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Awka.
The event, facilitated by the National Peace Committee, marked a collective commitment by all contestants to promote peace, unity, and mutual respect ahead of the November 2025 Governorship Election.
The ceremony, described as solemn yet historic, drew the presence of key national figures including Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, Chairman of the National Peace Committee; the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN); Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs); and a Deputy Inspector General of Police representing the Inspector General of Police. Their attendance underscored the national importance attached to a violence-free and credible electoral process in Anambra State.
In his remarks, Dr. Moghalu reaffirmed his total commitment to peace, fairness, and democratic values, emphasizing that politics must be rooted in service and guided by integrity. He noted that his campaign is not driven by desperation for power but by a sincere desire to restore public trust and recover the dignity of governance through purposeful leadership and people-centered development.
Dr. Moghalu further described elections as a “festival of ideas” rather than a battlefield of violence, urging Ndi Anambra to embrace peace, unity, and tolerance as the state prepares for the polls.
He called on all candidates and their supporters to place the interest of Anambra above personal ambitions, assuring that with collective effort and sincerity of purpose, Anambra will be better.
