Anambra Guber: Massive Crowd Defies Rain at Nnewi as Obi, Moghalu Vow to Reclaim State

The Labour Party’s governorship campaign in Anambra reached a defining moment on Friday, October 31, as its Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, joined the party’s Governorship Candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, at a massive rally in Nnewi.

The event, held at the DCC field, witnessed an extraordinary turnout of supporters who defied the rain to demonstrate their commitment to the Labour Party’s mission of reclaiming Anambra for the people.

In his remarks, Mr. Peter Obi commended the huge crowd and their unwavering spirit, describing the enthusiasm of Ndi Anambra as a powerful statement of the people’s faith in the Labour movement.

“What I have seen here today gives me confidence that victory is certain. Labour is not just a political party; it is a movement built on integrity, accountability, and service. Ndi Anambra have spoken loudly with their presence,” Obi said to thunderous applause.

Addressing the rally, Dr. George Moghalu expressed strong optimism that the Labour Party would record a decisive victory in the November 8 election. He said the mood of the people clearly reflected a yearning for a new direction in leadership.

“Labour will win convincingly. You can feel the pulse of the people—their passion, their readiness for a government that works for everyone. Labour is a people’s movement, not just a political party,” he stated.

Moghalu described the rousing reception he and Obi received in Nnewi markets earlier in the day as “a reflection of the people’s trust and belief in the Labour message.”

Reacting to the intensified campaign activities of the incumbent, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Dr. Moghalu questioned his sudden political restlessness.

“Talk is cheap. Soludo is running up and down because he knows the people have turned against him. I thought he said he wasn’t contesting with anybody—so why the sudden desperation?” Moghalu queried. He, however, maintained that power ultimately belongs to God, saying, “God gives power to whom He pleases, and on Saturday, He will speak through the votes of Ndi Anambra.”

Dr. Moghalu urged Labour Party supporters to remain peaceful, vigilant, and resolute, calling on them to turn out en masse on election day, cast their votes, and protect them until the final count.
