Gov. Mbah, Nigerian Attorneys General, Celebrate Enugu AG’s Elevation to SAN

The Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, joined Attorneys General from across Nigeria and other prominent dignitaries to celebrate the state’s Attorney General, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, on his prestigious conferment as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The event commenced with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass at Christ the King Parish, G.R.A., followed by a reception at the International Conference Center, Enugu, on Saturday, October 4, 2025. The occasion drew a distinguished gathering of guests, underscoring the significance of the milestone.

During the Mass, Bishop Calistus Chukwuma Onaga delivered a powerful exhortation titled “Therein Lies the Perfect Joy.” Drawing inspiration from the lives of St. Francis of Assisi and Jesus Christ, he emphasized that true fulfillment comes not from worldly pleasures but through a life of service, sacrifice, and endurance.

At the reception, Governor Mbah hailed the Attorney General’s achievement as a testament to diligence and perseverance.

“This accomplishment is not only a well-deserved recognition but a clear proof that hard work yields results,” he remarked, praising both Udeh and his dedicated team for their unwavering support to his administration.

“Our progress is deeply rooted in the tireless efforts of our resilient team, with the Honourable Attorney General playing a pivotal role. The law is the foundation of all we do, and we rely heavily on his guidance to ensure we remain on the right path. The influx of investors and successful contract negotiations owe much to his leadership,” the governor added.

Governor Mbah further underscored the collective nature of this success: “So, Attorney General, we owe you immense gratitude. This achievement is a victory for us all, and I trust it will inspire many here today.”

Representing the nation’s Attorneys General, Ebonyi State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Associate Professor Ben Odoh, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Mbah for his steadfast support. Addressing Dr. Udeh, he said,

“The sky is not your limit; it’s just the beginning. I wish you every success and pray for wisdom to guide you.”

Chief (Mrs.) Justina Offia, SAN, who represented the Senior Advocates of Nigeria in Enugu, highlighted the rarity of such an honor, noting that Udeh is only the second sitting Attorney General in Enugu’s history to receive the SAN title.

She commended his relentless dedication to his office and acknowledged the vital support of his wife, who has provided him with peace and strength throughout his journey.

Expressing the excitement of the Ozalla community, their President General lauded the Governor for this historic recognition. “This is the first time Ozalla has someone in this esteemed position. We thank His Excellency for this opportunity and pray for continued blessings on his leadership,” he said.

He also praised the Attorney General’s deliberate and impactful service, urging him to continue leading with wisdom and grace.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Udeh expressed profound gratitude to Governor Mbah, members of the Enugu State cabinet, the judiciary, and the people of Enugu for their prayers and support, which culminated in his elevation to the inner chamber.

“This conferment signifies a new chapter, an expanded capacity to serve not only the people of Enugu but all Nigerians impacted by my office as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,” he remarked.

“With this honor comes greater responsibility and higher expectations, and I am committed to meeting them.”

Addressing the youth, Dr. Udeh offered words of encouragement: “To the younger generation, there is no limit to what you can achieve. Your dreams are attainable. Begin the journey, remain focused, and success will follow.”
