…Says Anambra must reclaim its place as the commercial capital of Igboland.
The Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, on Monday, 15th September 2025, intensified his consultations with key stakeholders as he met with presidents of some of the most influential markets in Lagos, where Anambra traders have built a formidable commercial presence.
The high-profile meeting featured Chief Eric Ifeanyichukwu Ikechukwu, President of the Association of Progressive Traders; Evangelist CSP Dr. Emmanuel Ezeani, President of Mandilas International Trade Fair Center; Chief Oscar Odogwu Paul, President of Balogun Business Association (BBA); and Hon. Ngozi Emechebe, President of Aspamda Market.
Addressing the market leaders, Dr. Moghalu commended their resilience and enterprise, noting that the prosperity they created in Lagos is proof of what can be achieved in Anambra if the right environment is provided.
He said: “Anambra must reclaim its place as the commercial capital of Igboland. The success you built here shows what we can replicate at home. My vision is to build an Anambra where businesses will thrive with guaranteed security, a friendly investment climate, and rail lines linking our major commercial towns.”
In their responses, the market leaders expressed concerns about insecurity, poor infrastructure, and hostile business policies that have continued to push commerce away from Anambra.
They described the situation as unacceptable and urged Moghalu to address these challenges when elected. They assured him of their goodwill and pledged readiness to support efforts aimed at restoring Anambra to its pride of place as the commercial heartbeat of the South East.
The parley, convened by Hon. Chris Eke, leader of the Moghalu Grassroots Mobilizers, further deepened Moghalu’s bond with Ndi Anambra in the diaspora and underscored his consultative style of leadership, which continues to win the confidence of stakeholders across the state and beyond.
