Peter Obi Decries International Passport Fee Hike

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has decried the increase in the international passport fee.

In a post on his official X on Thursday, Obi stated that this administration’s fixation with imposing burdens on the population is becoming legendary.

The federal government stated on Thursday that international passport fees will be increased.

A 32-page booklet now costs ₦100,000, and a 64-page booklet costs ₦200,000 due to the recent hike.

The former governor of Anambra State responded by saying that the price of a single passport now surpasses a worker’s monthly income in a nation where the new minimum wage is merely ₦70,000.

He claims that rather than making life easier, the government continues to place more and more of the load on ordinary Nigerians.

“It is alarming that the price of the international passport is higher than what workers earn in a month,” he wrote.
