The Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Anambra State, Dr. George Moghalu (Ohamadike Nnewi), on Thursday addressed the meeting of the Association of Past President Generals of Anambra State (APAS) held at Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area, where he called for their support and partnership in his mission to rebuild the state.
He reminded them that governance is not a tea party but a serious responsibility, lamenting that Anambra, which once ranked first in education under former Governor Peter Obi, has since lost that pride of place.
Dr. Moghalu decried worsening insecurity, stressing that peace and stability are the foundation for development. He promised to reform and properly train local vigilantes, invest massively in agriculture to create jobs and food security, revive infrastructure to attract investors, and empower the youths with skills and opportunities.
“Where we are now is not where we are supposed to be. With your partnership, I am confident we can change the story. I assure you I will not fail or disappoint Ndi Anambra,” he said.
In their response, the APAS leadership, led by Mazi Omife I. Omife (Mbuze Mbakwu) and Engr. S.O. Okafor (Amalukwue na Aguluzigbo), commended Dr. Moghalu for his sincerity in addressing the real issues facing the state. They assured him that APAS, with its wide reach and influence across communities, is ready to partner with him in restoring Anambra’s pride of place.
The meeting ended with a solemn prayer for Dr. Moghalu, as the association asked God to grant him wisdom, strength, good health, and success in the forthcoming election, so he may lead Anambra to peace, progress, and prosperity.
