Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, Speaks on South-East Inclusiveness in  Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

“…more funds are now available to state and local governments,” says the Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring that all regions, including the South-East, are included in his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Minister made this known in a media parley, held on Thursday, 14th August 2025, at the International Conference Center, Enugu, which was organized to brief the public on Federal Government projects in Enugu and across the South-East.

Idris said Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ensures equitable distribution of resources nationwide. He stressed that the President’s style of governance promotes inclusiveness, fairness in appointments, and equitable sharing of benefits.

He highlighted key projects in the South-East, including the newly commissioned Cancer and Oncology Center at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu; the Eastern Railway Corridor from Port Harcourt through Aba and Enugu to Maiduguri; the 350-metre bridge linking Enugu, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states; and the rehabilitation of over 1,000 primary healthcare centres nationwide, including in the South-East.

The Minister explained that the removal of fuel subsidy has provided states and local governments with more funds for development projects and better tservice delivery.

He also commended Governor Peter Mbah for aligning state projects with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing his efforts as an example of effective collaboration between the federal and state governments.

The Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, equally applauded the President for ensuring the South-East benefits from federal programmes, particularly in infrastructure, innovation, science, and technology.

Enugu State Commissioner for Information, Malachy Agbo, said the event demonstrated a government committed to listening and engaging its citizens, while the Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Ikechukwu Asadu, thanked the President for projects executed in the state and called for a feedback mechanism to track progress and engage the youth.

Other dignitaries present included the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga; Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam; Senior Special Assistants to the President Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Barr. Chioma Nweze, Fred Nwabufor, Linda Akhigbe, and Temitope Ajayi; Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Uche Nnaji; House of Representatives member for Enugu North and South, Hon. Chimaobi Atu; and several Director-Generals under the Ministry of Information.

Also in attendance were traditional rulers, clergymen, PG members, representatives of the National Council of Women Societies, journalists, and others.
