Seventeen-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu from Yobe State, Nigeria, has emerged as the world champion in English language proficiency at the prestigious 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.
Representing Nigeria through Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Yobe, Nafisa outshone over 20,000 students from 69 countries, including many from native English-speaking nations, to clinch the top spot in the global competition.
The contest tested a wide range of English language skills, including comprehension, articulation, and critical communication abilities. Her remarkable performance is not only a testament to her brilliance but also to the strength of Nigeria’s educational potential when properly harnessed.
The news of her outstanding feat was confirmed in a statement by Hassan Salifu, head of the Aminu family, who credited her win to “dedication, discipline, and the enabling support of the Yobe State government.”
“Our daughter’s global success would not have been possible without the visionary support for education by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose efforts have brought international honour to our state and nation,” the statement read.
“Her win has brought immense pride to her family, her school, her state, and the nation at large.”
The family also expressed deep appreciation to the management and staff of Nigerian Tulip International College for maintaining high academic standards and nurturing students like Nafisa to excel at international levels.
They further urged both state and federal governments to formally recognise her historic achievement:
“Her victory demonstrates that Nigerian students can compete and excel globally when given the right learning environment and support.”
Nafisa’s triumph positions Yobe State and Nigeria on the global academic map. Newscentral
