Senate criticizes Natasha’s resumption, storming of NASS complex, says it’s ‘skit-making’

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, has criticised suspended Kogi Central lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of turning her resumption attempt to resume Senate duties into yet another episode of skit-making.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Adaramodu described Natasha’s resumption attempt as theatrical, suggesting that her return was less about legislative duty and more about creating viral content.

“The National Assembly at large has a lot of roles to play. We are legislators and lawmakers, not spectators to be watching skit-making and content creation”, he said

He added that what began as political grandstanding had now evolved into a full-blown drama series.

“Initially I said all these episodes and saga is all about content creation, now that the content has been created, it’s now degenerating into a season film.

“We are not interested, we are lawmakers not actors, we are not interested in all these kinds of things.

“Initially, I said all these episodes and saga are all about content creation. Now that the content has been created, it’s degenerating into a season film,” he said.

Adaramodu further maintained that any court judgment regarding Natasha’s suspension or resumption must follow due process.

He emphasised that self-enforcement of any ruling is not allowed under the law.

“Even if someone gets a court judgment, the enforcement must be carried out through legal channels. Court bailiffs serve orders — litigants don’t enforce them themselves,” he explained.

He concluded by stating that the Senate was not interested in what he described as a continuation of “content creation episodes” by Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The senator had earlier claimed that a court had nullified her six-month suspension, insisting she was entitled to resume legislative duties.

However, the Senate is yet to formally acknowledge the ruling or allow her return to plenary.

Natasha on Tuesday made her way into the National Assembly premises on foot after security operatives blocked her convoy from gaining access to the complex. Tribune
