Enugu: Nkanu West LG Boss Presents 2025 Budget Estimate of N4.7bn

The Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area in Enugu State, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, has proposed a record Four Billion, Seven Hundred and Five Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (#4,705,800,000) budget bill for the 2025 fiscal year to the Nkanu West local government Legislative Council.

Presenting the estimate titled “Budget of Hope” at the floor of the House, Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at council headquarters, Agbani, Ogbodo stated that the proposed estimates will focus on providing basic amenities in various sectors such as health, power, water, sanitation, hygiene, agriculture, among others.

The Chairman who noted that his vision is in line with Governor Peter Mbah’s disruptive innovation and optimal performance in Enugu State, explained that his administration “shall strictly adhere to due process, equity, transparency and accountability”.

“The preoccupation of the 2025 budget would be to vigorously pursue the projects that are in line with the agenda of the state government and we shall be judicious in addressing the critical developmental needs of the local government area. This shall be our policy position in 2025”, the council boss stated.

Ogbodo reiterated his resolve to transform and develop the entire local government, expressing optimism that with his administration’s determination in delivering democracy dividends to the people, “our administration will not only positively touch the lives of the common man but will as well increase youth employment, reduce poverty and engender a peaceful and serene Nkanu West where our men, women and children shall be proud to call their home.

He thanked Governor Peter Mbah for his strides in Nkanu West and across all parts of the state.

Ogbodo also thanked the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Onyekachi Emmauel Nnamani and other councillors for their cooperation, understanding and advice since his assumption of office, praying that such cordial relationship continues till the end of his tenure.

Earlier the Leader, Hon. Nnamani said that with the ongoing projects of modern abattoir (slaughter house) at Eke Agbani market nearing completion, drilling of two boreholes at Eke market with two solar powered overhead tanks, motor park at Ozalla four corners express, grading & application of laterite on most hinterland roads and other ongoing projects, the chairman is indeed on course.

The leader assured the chairman of the speedy passage of the budget estimates.

Present at the budget presentation were the Deputy Chairman and Secretary of the local government, Engr. Friday Nnam and Prince Onochie Jon-Igwesi, respectively, among others.
