The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday said the party was satisfied with the ongoing process of the local government election in the state.
The Chairman of the Party, MacDonald Ebere, spoke to newsmen in Owerri, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Julian Chijioke.
According to him,”The All Progressives Congress (APC) is extremely satisfied with the process of the Imo State Council election. We believe that the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) has demonstrated that it possesses all the necessary tools and expertise to conduct a transparent and credible local government election.
“The smooth conduct of the election, from the delivery of materials to the collation of results, reflects ISIEC’s competence and commitment to upholding democratic values.
“We see no need for improvement, as the commission has shown that it is fully equipped to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process,” he said.
The Saturday’s Local Government Elections in Imo commenced on a shaky footing with the late distribution of electoral materials but voter turnout has been impressive at the polling units visited.
Some analysts had earlier predicted apathy and low voter turnout ahead of the polls.
However, the News Agency of Nigeria correspondents monitoring the exercise report that eligible voters turned out in good numbers at the polling units.
