This happened during an interactive advocacy visit made by the State’s Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr. Adeyemi Sokumbi, to the office of the Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Enugu State; Dr. Kingsley Tochi Udeh.

Dr. Udeh reiterated Gov. Peter Mbah’s mandate on promoting and improving road usage and traffic compliance; thus, emphasized on the strength of the laws guiding road traffic in the state, which aligns with Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s vision for safer road infrastructure and enhanced traffic management. Dr. Udeh further stressed on the necessity for rigorous enforcement of traffic laws by the FRSC and other recognised law enforcement agencies, to ensure the safety of motorists and other road users. He also urged the Corps to improve public enlightenment on road traffic laws and the need for motorists to obey the laws when plying the roads, in order to sustain the safety of all road users. This echoes Governor Mbah’s focus on educating the public about the importance of obeying traffic laws for their common good.

The Hon. Attorney General equally stated that arresting and prosecuting traffic offenders, particularly those disregarding traffic lights, underscores Governor Mbah’s determination to instil discipline among motorists and uphold traffic regulations. He appealed for the enhancement of the process for obtaining drivers’ licenses and ensuring that only qualified individuals obtain licenses. Dr. Udeh assured the Corps of Governor Mbah’s proactive approach to collaborate with relevant agencies to achieve his administration’s core objectives.

The Federal Road Safety Corps Sector Commander, Mr. Adeyemi called the attention of the Hon. Attorney General to the FRSC’s “Operation Zero Crashes initiative”, aimed at reducing road crashes caused mainly by human factors. This well resonates with Governor Mbah’s agenda of minimizing road accidents and promoting responsible driving behavior.

He expressed his gratitude and thanked the Hon. Attorney General for the opportunity to engage with him and deliberate on the issues. Mr. Adeyemi assured him of the Corps’ dedication to working closely with the Gov. Peter Mbah’s led administration.
