The immediate past Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Council in Enugu State, Chief Nwabueze Nnamani has called for better infrastructure, especially in the area of power.

Nnamani made this known while speaking at the third edition of the Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards organized by Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, a print and online media outfit headquartered in Enugu, covering the Southeast, Southsouth and the FCT.

Reacting to the Keynote Speaker’s address on the topic of the lecture “The Post Subsidy Economy- Exploring Bold Initiatives for Economic Recovery in Nigeria”, the retired Nigeria Customs Service officer stressed that having sustainable power supply was a huge factor to industrial and economic development, not to mention the post subsidy economic recovery.

“I know about climate change but some developed countries still generate electricity from fossil fuel.

“I see no reason why developing countries like ours should not use the coal we have to generate affordable and sustainable power”, he said.

Nnamani noted that this could be a solution in the meantime, “while we continue a slow but steady transition to a zero-emission based power in the long run”.

He appreciated the organisers of the event, Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, for putting up such an event with a timely theme as it had, while lauding the consistency of the publication of the magazine and one of her flagship programme, the Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards.

He further called on Nigeria’s young population to not only be hardworking, but to also learn to not hesitate to show gratitude when need be.

Recall that the event witnessed the presentation of various awards of excellence to some citizens of Nigeria who have stood out in their careers, for a course, or in their lifetime so far in many regards.

The Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards brings people from all areas of life to hold discussions on our polity, economy, leadership, capital and human resource, etc, all with the principal aim to continue to contribute positively to the continuous growth of our society and nation.
