The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has flayed the incumbent People’s Democratic Party for what it describes as underhand tactics to sustain itself in office at all cost.
The state chairman of the party, Ndubuisi EnechiOnyia, made this known to newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday while reacting to the press release of one Mr. Sylvester Chinedu Nweke.
The people of Ishi-Ozalla autonomous community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State had, over the weekend, endorsed the candidacy of Frank Nweke, the governorship candidate of APGA, describing him as the most qualified candidate with a track record of integrity and excellence.
Apparently irked by the increasing acceptance of APGA and its candidate in Enugu, one Don Sylvester Chinedu Nweke, put out a statement repudiating the Ishi-Ozalla endorsement.
According to the party chairman, the hurried press release which has the tentacles of the incumbent party all around it shows that the PDP knows that its time is up in Enugu State.
“This only adds to the growing list of the desperation of the people in government. From setting our vehicles ablaze, to destroying party billboards and now attempting to create a media ruse on a well-attended event.
“For a party that has been in power for nearly 23 years to be this jittery about the increasing acceptance of Frank Nweke’s call for the citizens to arise and rebuild Enugu shows how badly they have performed in office.
“The people of Ishi-Ozalla have made their choice and will follow it up with a massive vote for APGA in 2023. We invite those in government to point at visible governance deliverables and how the lives of the people have improved under their stewardship as a basis for continued stay in office, instead of using state resources to sponsor baseless propaganda.”
