The Peoples Democratic Party has announced that her National Working Committee has canceled the primaries to elect her flag-bearers in Ebonyi State.

In a statement published on the party’s verified twitter handle and signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Olugunagba, it said the NWC will announce new dates for the affected Party exercises in the State.

It reads, “After very extensive consultations, deliberations and review of all issues, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has approved the cancelation of all Party primaries in Ebonyi State.

“To this effect, all State House of Assembly, National Assembly and Governorship primaries of our Party in Ebonyi State are hereby cancelled. The NWC will announce new dates for the affected Party exercises in the State.

“The PDP charges all aspirants, critical stakeholders, leaders and members of our great Party in Ebonyi State to remain calm, united and focused as the PDP takes firm steps to rescue our nation from the misrule of the rudderless, corrupt and incompetent All Progressives Congress”.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission extended the date for the conclusion of primaries by six days. INEC National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education Committee, Barr. Festus Okoye, said the extension “is granted in respect of outstanding primaries only without prejudice to those already concluded by political parties. The Commission will not monitor already concluded primaries”.

It is not yet clear if the canceled primaries of Ebonyi state will be regarded as concluded by the electoral umpire.
