EXCITEMENT BUILDS AS ROTARY DISTRICT 9142 WELCOMES ROTARY INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT SHEKHAR MEHTA AND SPOUSE RASHI MEHTA
…to inaugurate Girl Child project, Literacy focused Schemes and Rotary Days Initiatives in the District.
The Rotary International President, Shekhar Mehta, along with his Spouse Rashi is visiting District 9142.

He will officially inaugurate the Skill Acquisition Training Centre on the Production of Reusable Sanitary Pads; Girl Child Scholarship Programme and implementation of the Rotary Day Initiative which will help improve the lives of our communities.

RI President Shekhar and Rashi Mehta are both champions of the Girl Child project. The Skill Acquisition Training centre will be a continuous programme scheduled in batches. The production of biodegradable reusable sanitary pads is aimed at improving female menstrual health and hygiene as well as the livelihood of the girl child. The first beneficiaries of the pilot project will demonstrate the production during the RI President visit.
The host District Governor, Dr. Okey Okonkwo describes the visit as quite momentous considering the significant impact it will make both within and outside our District.

He points out that this is the second time a Rotary International President is vising our District. The RI President will induct new members into Rotary and decorate The Rotary Foundation contributors Paul Harris Fellows, Major Donors, Benefactors and Other Major Gifts Donors.
Rotarians, Rotaractors and Friends of the Rotary family will be privy to an interactive, brainstorming and insightful session with Mehta. The Rotary International Presidents visit is expected to boost the spirit of selflessness in service and encourage Rotarians to Serve to Change Lives.
