It was a historic day in the annals of the Enugu State Chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (N.A.P.P.S) as her members led by the State Chairman, Mr. Ernest Ikeugwu was at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport on Wednesday 17th February, 2021 to welcome their National President, Chief Yomi Otubela.

While briefing our correspondent, Mr. Ikeugwu said the visit was significant because in the calendar of the Association at the National level, it was a norm for all National Presidents to visit the Zonal and State Chapters of the Association. In his words “The members of N.A.P.P.S in Enugu are present to welcome the National President to the Southeast Zone and the State. It is a usual ritual for National Presidents to visit zones while in office for the purpose of familiarization and enquiries into compliance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the Association. Our National President would have made this visit earlier but the Covid-19 pandemic had been a factor to consider.” It was notable that all members of the Association on ground to receive the National President adhered to the Covid-19 protocols as they had their nose masks on. Among those present were the Association’s National Vice President (Southeast Zone) Nonye Enemuo (Esq) as well as a past National Executive Tessy Igweani (Esq).

Reacting to the auspicious welcome given him, the National President Chief Yomi Otubela appreciated the mammoth crowd of School Proprietors that were on ground to receive him. He specifically applauded what he called the strong loyalty and belief of the members in the Association. He promised to continue to champion positive courses through the help of God.

Some members of the Association who spoke on the condition of anonymity described the State Chairman as a gift to the Association. They noted his resilience, ingenuity, integrity and capacity as being virtues responsible for the successes recorded by him and his executives.

Recall that the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools is the foremost Association uniting all private school owners in the country. The Association was further shot to limelight during the first wave of the global pandemic as she was at the fore calling for resumption of schools when schools were closed down, while heavily sensitizing and galvanizing her members for strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols as laid out by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, the National Centre for Disease Control and other relevant stakeholders.
